I am active in the Sri Lankan Share Market and have no knowledge of the Indian Market. But as you say if the stock market is going down, then the action is sell now and buy later when it hits the bottom. From the past trends you should know where the bottom is.

Though this discussion was initiated long time back, the Indian stock market at present( 2/07/07) has reached its all time high. It seems that the market is very stock specific and one can expect a correction of 1 to 1.5% in sensex. So if u are new to this field, wait for the bait.Use all dips in market for buying.

I don't know the value of indian stocks ( his P/E and forecasts of growth),I only knew Arcelor Mittal, this share have risen a lot and I made a good profit on it,I think most of the stock markets are still a buy on a correction.
I invest in European shares .
