Well, Im still undecided on this issue. Of course, the cost of living has gone up. Now if you make minimum wage you have to work all day just to buy ciggarats & gas. Is it low? Yes. Is it to low to support a family? It is if they dont get any goverment support like food stamps. I think there should be a differant mimium wage for adults then for teenagers. If you are 16 & live at home still, chances are your parent are paying everything. All you spend your money on is gas. But how is it fair that they make the same as a single parent trying to raise 3 kids?
On the other hand, what will happen when mimium wage goes up? The companies will have to pay the workers more, which will result in higher prices on everything. So It really wouldnt help that much if everything else goes up. What differance does it make if you make $300 a week now & spend $250 on food & bills then if you made $400 a week & spent $350 on food and bills?Im not sure there is a solution to this problem now. It should've been raised a long time ago but it wasn't. Now the only possable solution would be to set an amount that owners can make as profit. Like say they can;t make any more then xx% profit off there products. That way they cant raise them to much. It seems fair that the owner should take a cut to were they are still makeing a profit but not a huge one.

If you are talking about the US...then I believe minimum wage is too low. In many areas the gas prices, per gallon, are often more than half of what the national minimum wage is. That combined with increased living expenses and inflation makes the minimum wage border slavery. What's the point in working when you can make close to the samething on welfare? Minimum wages need to be raised.
