i have an AMD PC and it works really good for me as i am a lot in gaming and graphics. now my father wanna buy a laptop for his personal official use. i m recommending him to buy AMD because it is self tested but his friend(who dont have any computer knowledge) is asking him to buy a pentium one because pentium advertises more in my country, now this is really stupid, isn't it. so i have done a deal with my father that we will read valuable advices of computer experts on my lot and than we will decide which one to buy. the best answer would also be our choice. please be descriptive.

yes lameran u are absolutely right, AMD processers are really more power consuming and they would affect the back up and battery life of my fathers laptop. So iam going to buy a laptop with an intel processer. ur point is really good so i m choosing ur response as the best response. thank you very much.

as far as my knowledge is concerned i will suggest you to buy a INTEL powered Laptop because once its a laptop it has to save a lot of power when on battery backup and moreover the perormences are not upto the mark for the AMD wwhen we speak of laptops so amd is better only if u use a home pc with good ram and intel is best for laptops....go for intel buddy u will come to know the difference

i think intel is better for office use.....amd is known for its gaming experience....moreover intelhas come up with its core 2 duo which is better than all the amd processors....so i recommend to go for intel core 2 duo processor...

according to me as office work involves lots of graphical work that is it may be any presentations or anything i would recomend you to go for AMD athlon 2800+ or amd turion based laptops.

I would recommend AMD Athlon 3200+ processor. It is best for gaming and multimedia, where Intel is best for normal applications like microsoft word, etc.AMD comes with inbuild ATI graphics, which is the best around.I recommend you to buy AMD,because i am AMD user for almost 4 years.Get going with AMD.

If the laptop is for office use only then it would make no difference whether he had an Intel or AMD processor installed.
Office applications use a small amount of system resources, so an old laptop from 5 years ago would be a higher specification than he really needed.
The real point is whether he will continue using it for office programs only or gradually expand into other uses.

in my opinion Intel Processors are great for business and AMD for gaming...
The New Intel Dual-Core and Quad-Core processors like Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium D, Intel Xeon etc. are great for Business PC's
But now Intel has also introduced Intel Core 2 Duo Processors for gaming also...
AMD is great for gaming... but it is now facing great competition from Intel as they have introduced Core 2 Duo for gaming...
I conclude that Intel processors are good for business/office use...
