Better Business Bureau - Checking Companies Out

Okay, So I'm a stay at home mom, and I've been trying to find WAH jobs for a while. Lately there are alot of scammers and spammers out there, so it is hard to find a legit company. I'm frustrated because I look up bbb.com to research these companies and some of the stuff is not updated. Does anyone know of other sites to check companies out to see if they are real, scammers, or how to have the BBB update their records. Or maybe even find a website that specializes on that?
