can freinds become lovers?

Certainly...Friends can be lovers. Love has nothing to do with that two are friends or not. Love is not done it just happens. If two friends be lovers and finally get married the chances are wider for marriage to be a success but on the same time you should not forget that when we are at the level of friendship or loveing each other before marriage we overlook lots of shortcomings of other person but sooner or later after marriage these shortcomings which were overlooked before wedding at the level of friendship or loving stage (before wedding) only becomes a problem for the marriage to come to an end. So if friends are becoming to be a lover and later going in to a bond of wedding they should ask themselves whether they will be able to overlook the shortcomings of the other person even after wedding also or not like they are doing before wedding. If they can it is a success otherwise it cannot work for longer.
