If so, what testing was done to determine your diagnosis? What were your symptoms? Are you gluten-free now? If so, how have your symptoms improved?
I was diagnosed 4 months ago, after being diagnosed with anemia and chronic diahrea. I've been gluten-free ever since, and the anemia has improved slightly, while the diarhea has gone away completely.
I'm interested in connecting with others who share this disorder/disease.

There's a large variety of symptoms that may be apparent with celiac disease. Some people show no symptoms at all, but are still suffering intestinal damage. Here is a link to an informative website. It gives the facts better than I could:

I don't have it but I learned a lot about it when my boyfriends father thought he had it. he tested negative but he still thinks he has it. He is also on a gluten free diet. I have a bunch of websites saved somewhere for recipes, if you are interested and if I can remeber where I put them.lol. My b/f sister has it. She is also on a strict diet. She is very much into the natural healing stuff. I bet you went to Dr Diaz, right? I think he is a great doctor. He is the one who did the testing on my b/f dad.

LOL--Yes, it was Dr Diaz. My family dr is actually in Waterloo. Shall we sing "It's a Small World After All"? I agree that Dr Diaz is just terrific. My bloodwork came back borderline and the biopsy was negative--but I had already been gluten-free for 4 months at that point. He's sending me in for further testing because he's not convinced that the celiac caused my anemia. I'm a bit freaked about that.
If you happen to locate the websites, please let me know. I've found a bunch, but I'm sure you have some that I haven't discovered yet.
I'm not surprised that both your bf's father and sister have it, as it runs in families. I don't know of anyone else in my family that has it, except for possibly my son.

i was diagnosed in august . i used to get a very bad stomach ache , i didnt have any diarrhea or vomitting. the stomach ache was so bad that a couple of times we had to go to the ER. i was diagnosed by blood tests. and then my doctor did a endoscopy and confirmed the diagnosis.as soon as i eliminated gluten from my diet ,my symptoms disappeared. now i am almost back to normal.

I don't think that Doctor's or insurance companies really like to deal with celiac disease. But if you think it is bothering you, I would go on the gluten free diet and and if symptoms have improved, you are probably right. You should probably note that you need to watch your diet and make sure that you get all your vitamins and minerals. You may need to take some supplements too keep yourself healthy.

I was diagnosed 3 months ago. I have been gluten free since the day I was diagnosed.
When I was diagnosed, I kept getting pain in my side when I ate and after I ate, I would either have explosive symptoms or I would have to sleep. I lost 30 pounds quickly without trying and I just felt really lethargic and overally, unwell. I insisted on a referral to a surgeon for an unrelated thing and the surgeon took one look at me, without even hearing my symptoms, and said "Have you ever been tested for Celiac disease?" I had the blood test and the biopsy and she was right. It came back positive.
I started feeling better within a week. In about 3 weeks, people commented how I looked less pale and my hair looked healthier. After 3 months, I feel amazing. The diet can be tricky to follow because it is a lot less convenient, but it is worth it.
