I was reading an article about child modeling for girls. It was talking about how it was the best thing for your child, it will give them confidence and boost their body image when they get older. I complete disagree. Child modeling is where the girls will become self conconsious too early, they will be body consious before they need to be, children shouldn't wear makeup at the age of 5 or even at the age of 10, they should just be worried about being kids. This makes kids unconfident if they lose! Sure they are happy if they win, but what about the next one, and i've seen children that are in pagents, they have no time to be a kid. What are your thoughts

I agree here. Modelling is by its nature an industry where image is everything. It is difficult to separate what is important at that young, impressionable age. If winning at beauty is the goal, then things like pagents teach kids the wrong thing. Modelling is similar, in that true jobs are hard to come by, rejection is the norm, and even the 'jobs' focus and make-up, looks and what the child looks like. These are not the attributes that I would want my child to focus upon. As you said, let them be children.
