A Way To Ask For Help Without Embarassment...

Today I was searching for resources for a person who needed financial help here on MyLot and I came across this website called Save Me Sites:
http://www.savemesites.com
This is a website that allows the needy and donors of money, programs and or other resources to come together and help each other without embarrassment or harassment in some some cases, such they might find on other public sites.
The motto of the site is, "Because Asking For Help Should Always Be Free"
They will allow a person to make a site and post it on the directory for free and if they don't have their own.
They will also allow the posting of commercial sites, resource sites, search engines, PTR and other sites for free...
The amount of tragic stories that can be read here is tremendous and it gives me a guage to determine what is truly a request for help and what is not or what is a true resource for help and what is just a scam...
I am glad that such a site exists but I am also a little sad because there is the need for such a site...
There are many, many people hurting out there for real!!!
They might be someone you know who is just to afraid or proud to ask for help...
Three questions for you, my Mylot family:
Do you think it's good for such a site to exist?
Do you have a resource link in your inventory that could really help someone in need?
Have you ever witnessed the public harrassment of someone, who actually needed help... and on what website?

I think I would be leery of such a site or group of sites because I wouldn't believe they were real.
How would a person in need be able to tell the difference between a real resource and a scam?
Conversely, how would a person who wants to help be able to tell if a person was real or just scamming for cash?
I have not witnessed any harassment of a needy person, either public or private.

It certainly is worth the "Due Diligence" that it takes to make sure that the truly deserving people get the help that they need...
Due Diligence can and should using resources to determine if the existance of such a person exists, checking for addresses and even reporting the situation to the proper authorities in that person's district or area if the story sounds fishy or is horrifying, enough to bring out genuine concern within you...
You don't, nor would I, ever recommend blindly sending money to anyone for anything...
I go on "high alert" when someone asks only for money, it's the smart thing to do.
Thanks for your great comment, it's good advice to all! :)

I run a nonprofit foodpantry for low income citizens. I see people eveyday who really do need help. I love being able to help them in some small way. There are many organizations that help people online and in our communities. This is a good online site. They only give out so much help per month. You have to make an application for help so it is not quick. You will also need access to a fax machine immediately if you are approved. There are many ways to use a fax machine if you do not have one. hospital or Office of Emergency Servies or even lawyers will often send a fax for a small price or often for free.

Ther are many more sites that I use to refer my clients too.

Kudos to you, Villageanne!
You are truly an Earthmomma!:)
I spend part of my life making sure that usable items, food and clothing get to the people that really need it, too!
As a Resource Officer in business, I've learned about many, many valuable services, organisations and just plain good folk (like you!) where people can get what they need with dignity and respect.
I also have tech-stuff that can help those who may lack things like fax machines, resume software ect.
Hugs and kisses to you, (hope your hubby isn't the jealous type) and I hope the flapping of your wings and the glow from your halo don't keep your family awake at night! :)
Blessed Be!
