The best pet for me has to be our beloved cats, we have four in total. Cats are very independent creatures and are self-cleaning, unlike dogs. They are extremely clean and pride themselves on cleanliness. You do not need a licence to own a cat like a dog so the expense is minimal. Cats are easier to leave with neighbours or friends when you go away, so they are not much of a tie, other animals tend to take more looking after which puts people off looking after them. Cats give you lots of love and help relieve stress by stroking them and having them around. Cats are not as destructive when they are young as other animals if you have a scratching post for them, they are also much easier to train.

I think the best pet to own is one you really enjoy. One that you will take care of and provide for. One that you will give the best care possible to even when it costs alot of money. It should be a pet that you will be able to find care for in your absents. It should be a pet that you have prepared for in advance. By doing research on its needs and being able to provide them... The best pet for you is not always the one you want. And sometimes the best pet is a "pet rock"

I think the best pet to own would be a ferret as they are always doing something funny and are exciting to play with you can feed them cat food and they are very easy to take care of I used to have a ferret and miss her very much, but enjoyed her while she was around.I hope that everyone has a special pet.

I think the best pet to own is a cat. I wouldn't have said that growing up because we where not allowed to have cats because my Mom was scared of them. I find cats are independent. If you have to travel it is easy to have a friend to take care of them cause they only have to come in every second day to do the litter, change the water and fill up the feeding dishes.( I keep a couple when I am traveling) You don't have to walk them. And when they get up on your lap or lie down in bed with you and just purr it is pure heaven.

That is soooo hard! I guess if I have to choose between a dog and a cat I wll choose a cat. While both are seemingly so understanding of my moods and love unconditionally, the cat is a bit more self-sufficient. The cat toilets himself, bathes himself, and doesn't need to be walked. My cat is like a child to me!

Hi! I guess it depends on what you want from your pet, companionship, entertainment, quiet presence, etc. If you want companionship, then cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc are the best because they can interact with you. If you want peace and quiet, then fish or reptiles are the way to go. There are just so many options out there that each person can find a pet to suit his personality.

This is a tough question as I love dogs and cats equally but since I am single and not home a lot, I would have to say cats since they are more independent than dogs and they can take care of themselves in the home. We just need to put food and water down for them and a clean litterbox. Dogs need attention and need to be walked regularly and bathed.

a cat because they are cute animals and they dont wake you up in the morning barking at the postman, they are more playful and dont cost as much to keep.
