My dog, a french bulldog, is since last september the surogate mother of a kitten. She is very protective and keeps an eye on her when our other cat blows to her. But that is not all, she is also breastfeeding her!! At first it didn't occur to me that she really was feeding, like as if there was coming milk out of her nipples.. but about 2 weeks later I found out that my french bulldog indeed is Breastfeeding our little cat!! Who has experienced this also??

It actually happens quite often. If the baby is left with no care and your dog has had a litter can make her body produce milk even if she is not the one the was pregnant.

I don't know what a litter is? Could you explain that to me? Anyway, my dog was not pregnant and has never been pregnant. Pucca, the kitten, came living with our family when she was 6 weeks old. I think it is a true and wonderful experience to see. They really take care of eachother, I am grateful to have such a wonderful animal family, lol

This is normal if your dog is very caring and motherly. It has been known to happen RARELY with mothers who adopt very young children. I am very happy for your family.

When a dog is pregnant and gives birth, their puppies are their litter.
