Is it normal for female dogs to hump stuff like a male

I have a 8 month old lab, Who likes to hump her blankets and anything she can get between her hind legs. she has done this before she was fixed and even after she has been fixed. Is this normal for a female dog? Has anybody else had a female dog do this?
