Are we still in a patriarchal society?

Okay, before you think I'm another feminist -- I'm not -- we were talking about this today, and before you say 'no', think of this -- there's never been a female President in America, there's been one female Prime Minsister in England, and she suffered great complications. When we think of builders, plumbers, piolets and surgeons, do we not think of men -- and YES, women are ALLOWED to do these things, but society seems to encourage us in to OTHER things... Are we just patriarchal, or naive for not challenging society?
