Home Remedies for Hair Loss and Split Ends
Hair loss may be caused due to a variety of reasons, for example, tension, malnutrition, illness etc. Split ends, if not treated travel up to the root giving the hair an uneven length. Here are some simple home remedies to combat hair loss and split ends:
1) Apply olive oil at bed time and wash off the hair next morning.
2) At home, wash hair with cold water, rub scalp with fingers. This is a simple, and effective remedy against hair loss.
3) Boil Heena leaves in mustard oil till they are burnt, the oil can be filtered. A regular massage of this oil is helpful.
4) Seeds of lime and black pepper ground together to a fine paste helps treat patchy baldness.
5) Apply coconut milk all over the scalp and massage into roots.
6) Scrub the area of patchy baldness with onions untill it becomes red. Follow up by applying honey over this patch.
7) Trim the hair every 4 to 5 weeks even if you are growing it.
8) Avoid rubber bands, sharp clips, spiky brushes and do not brush hair when it is wet.
9) The juice of leaves of bhongra massaged into the head is an effective hair tonic to check falling hair.
10) The paste made from powdered seeds of shana with coconut/sesame/castor oil is used as a hair tonic.
11) The juice of kanta karika mixed with honey applied to the head acts as a hair tonic.
12) The oil extracted from rohisa, briskly rubbed into the head encourages the new growth.

thanks so much for that suggestions :) i'm really suffering from falling hair this time since i'm adjusting for the temperature of the winter season as i'm used before with the philippines to be always at 80F or higher. what i usually used before for hair care was olive oil also & coconut milk. at least you have given some other options for me to use... i can add for your olive oil usefulness also as a body scrub. just add enough iodized salt to olive oil & use as body scrub.

These are nice suggestions. I cannot follow number 8 though "do not brush wet hair". If I don't brush my hair as soon as I get out of the shower I'm done for. I will never get a brush or a comb through it! I have very thick long hair that has a mind of it's own. I have had a couple hairdressers tell me that I have enough hair on my head for 2-3 people! I cannot even get a flat iron to work properly on my hair.

I understand what you mean, I have such thick hair too. I have to comb my hair when its wet. But you could back comb your hair i.e. inside out instead of combing from top to down. That way hair loss is minimised and its easier to untangle the hair. Couldn't resist telling you when I read your response:)

Lettuce ( salad-ka-patta) is useful in preventing hair loss through deficiencies. A mixture of
lettuce and spinach juice is said to help the growth of hair if it is drunk to the extent of half a litre
a day. The juice of alfalfa ( lecerne) in combination with carrot and lettuce juice, taken daily also
helps the growth of hair to a remarkable extent. The combination of these juices is rich in
elements which are particularly useful for the growth of hair. While preparing alfalfa juice, the
leaves of the plant only may be used when it can be obtained fresh.
Daily application of refined coconut oil mixed with limewater and lime juice on the hair, prevents
loss of hair and lengthens them. Application of the juice of green coriander leaves on the head is
also considered beneficial. Amaranth, known as chaulai-ka-saag in the vernacular, is another
valuable remedy. Application of its fresh leaf-juice helps the growth of the hair and keeps them
soft.

Now that is a discussion that my wife is definitely going to be thrilled to read about.
Since after our daughter my wife is not losing hair however, thanks to a stupid hairdresser who instead of just trimming her hair a little bit went a bit too far and decreased her hair length to some extent that left both of us troubled since we both love long hair, she has split ends that do seem to be travelling upwards. The only remedy suggested so far has been a trimming which we dont want since it would take around 2 inches of hair that take in her case 6 months to grow back.
I really appreciate all the tips that you have given. I will definitely print them and give them to my wife when I see her in the evening.
