For some of us childhood was a memorable and happy time. There are stories to share about growing up, about the time when we tasted something for the first time, about the scars that we got from falling out of trees and the list can go on and on.
As I child, I loved playing dress up, climbing trees, building sand castles, playing musical chairs, playing hide & go seek, jump rope, hop scotch, bike race, guessing games, double dutch, and could go on and on. I still like playing them. But my all time favorite childhood game was 'duck, duck, goose.'
What was your favorite childhood game or activity.

I loved dress up. I also loved playing pretend. My favorite was playing "office" and pretending to be a powerful boss. My favorite board game was Manacala. It's an ancient board game that you play with stones. It's a game of strategy. It's still one of my absolute favorite games.

I forgot, some of the elementary schools have incorporated Mancala in their curriculum. It is such a great game...I taught it to my little niece even though she thought it was boring, she eventually grew to love it!!!

Remember the days of the old school yard we used to laugh alot...Oh!
just thought I'd add that snippet of a song in there lol! My most favourite game was 'Bullrush' where my brothers, sisters and neighbourhood friends got together in our back yard to play (it was like a 1/4 acre). One kid was nominated for the middle of the field and the rest of us had to charge the field and make it to the other side of the field without being tackled. If you were caught, the two of you became the kids in the middle and so on...till the last one...by the end of the game quite a few of us had lots of 'hurts' but it was a great game...we used to play it at school too, but then it got banned.

Man, it was banned? Bummer! But it surely sounds like a fun game. It sort of reminds me of dodge ball without the ball. Thank you so much for sharing...

As a kid growing up in the streets of Brooklyn NY , all we needed was a ball(Spaldine) . That led to Stick ball , Punch ball Hand ball and goodness knows how many other games . During the summer ,our folks would see us in the morning and not again until dinner time . Great times growing up and thanks for asking -tc

I loved loads of the games mentioned above, mostly I loved swimming as a kid and all the water games and swimming races, I also liked the "teddy bear" game you did in the water, don't know if anyone's heard of it, it's usually two people jumping up and down in the water, saying something like "teddy bear, teddy bear, do a handstand in the water" and you both had to do what the other person said. Quite good really, especially when you had to talk or shout something under water. I also liked playing the game hangman, I used to add loads of parts onto the man like fingers, toes, eyes (no rude bits) to make the game last, so I could hopefully not hang of course.

My childhood is very memorable because I spend it a lot learning and playing with my friends. My favorite game was the chinese garter wherein we have a contest on who will jump the highest or above the chinese garter wins. We had also games like 'patintero',hide and seek and many others.

You seemed to have been very creative as a kid. I can definitely agree with you, some of the best times I had was playing with my Barbie Dolls by myself. My sister was a baby, so I didn't have any girls other than my mom to play them with. Thanks for sharing.

I always loved the game of tag, and the various ways you could play it. From plain old tag, flashlight tag, to flag tag, the endless hours we spent running around trying to catch each other was fun.
Another game I always loved was hide and go seek, until I was it, LOL. We lived in a countrified area when I was growing up, so the hiding places where endless. It would take awhile for us to get through one game of it, because of there being so many places to hide. :)
Red light, green light was another favorite, along with jumprope. Sadly, many kids don't play these games anymore, and because there aren't as many kids around as there used to be when we were growing up, I find that us adults have to not only show them how to play these games again today, but we also have to participate in them, to have more players on the teams.

Tag is a very fun game, and I agree the possibilities are endless. I remember those day long games of hide n seek...lol. Red Light Green Light is a classic that I don't see much, I am going to play it this weekend. Yeah, I am a big kid...but life is too short. It's good to know that some parents get involved in their kids games!!! That's great...Thanks for sharing.
