Do you set MyLot Goals?

I didn't notice until recently that I set goals for myself on mylot. Like right now my number is 391 and mentally I thought 'I will keep posting today until I reach 400'. Other days I think 'I'm going to check my email and reply to all of the threads that I started and others replied to.' Some days my goal is to start topics and on other days my goal is to just reply.
Do you set different mylot goals? Seems kind of silly now that I am thinking about it and not just subconsciously doing it.

Yes I do that too. Like my number now is 253 and I will post until I get to 260. It's like I always try to make it even LOL. I didn't realize that I did that though until you said something.

I set goals for Mylot a lot infact.Initially when i started i used to think that for today i will post some 20-30 discussions per day and start interesting discussions. Now the new feature made me more addicted to Mylot which makes me to respond to discussions and give valauable discussions.

Which new feature are you talking about? The rating system?

I do not set any goals as I come on here and reply to as many topics as I can during the time that I am on here as well as create discussions. If I make a lot of money great but if not that is fine too as I enjoy the discussions and hearing everyones views on different thing. Being happy and having fun would be my goal on here.

I think it takes time for your view of mylot to change like that. At first I was only here to make money but as time passes I have started making posts that have a little more meaning and really add to the community.

I keep telling myself that today will be the day I get to 500, but that isn't likely to happen. I realize that I am just 5 short of my goal, but I am in no rush to go out and search for topics to reply to get get my rating up to 500. Plus I have all day tomorrow to get there if I need to. So in time I'll get to 500 and in time I'll get my posts back up around 30 per day, but for now I am feeling just a bit lazy!

It's not silly. We are all here to make money and have fun. So I set a goal of 20 points a day. 20 isn't that hard to do, that's just 20 replies. It leaves me plenty of good posts to reply to without feeling stressed or needing to settle for posting to really dumb topics. I also know at that rate, I am making the amount I would like to make, enough to cover Internet fees.
Good Question!

lol...I found myself sitting here thinking "ooo...20 posts, that is such a good goal." I really like that. Do you also start your own topics as well?

Yep, but only when I can think of something to really post. I don't like posting silly things, but stuff to think about or would be interesting.

It's not silly! ^_^ Having different goals on different days sounds like it would make Mylot more interesting. I really try to post at least 70-80 quality posts per day, personally, because my goal is to make at least $1.50 per day here. I don't really have a set goal about getting certain topics of mine repsonded to, or things like that. But I do find myself sometimes thinking that i am done for the day (or for that period of time) and then wanting to post one or two more if I am that close to the next round number, like you mentioned *laugh* It's hard not to want to see that next big number beside your name! ^_~

I agree -- and I find myself doing the same kinda of thing, thinking that I'm done for now and then getting hooked into another post and discussion I would like to participate in -- yes I have to admit I really enjoy watching that number go up, I'm awed sometimes at some of the numbers I've seen and feel rather good when a tried and true "mylotter" takes the time to respond and to rate my responses. :)

I used too, before underneath your user name (or picture) myLot would show a tally of how many threads you answered, how many posted, best responses and discussions resolved. So it was very easy to keep track of what your activity was. That feature has been gone for a couple of months at least and now I really have no clue of what my actual activity is with the fluxuation in the numbers next to your user name. It's the one change they made that I haven't liked. All of the others have been great!

yes even i do that. i feel when we have a goal to reach it makes the going a bit easy and most of all we have a direction. i know what i have to do and how much i have to do. i set the goal accrding to the time available to me.
generally in weekdays i post about 20 to 25 response and reply to the discussions. and on weekdays the goal is a little higher cause i get more time on those days. and also i break up the time. say 15 minutes at a stretch and then again after 20 30 minutes.

I don't think it's silly at all-it may help to organize things better and give you direction. I started to set a few mini-goals for myself in the past few weeks, mainly related to increasing my number. I generally have had more luck responding to discussions so my goals are usually related to that.
One day I might make it a point to concentrate on a certain topic, my friends' discussions, or the front page topics. I try to post things when I think of topics.

i always try and make my number even each time before i sign off, i use to set goals and say to get so far, but i never seem to reach it, so now i just do it what i feel like doing, and before i know it, i should have a good number and one day might have a good $$

I don't set goals, but I do keep track of the amount of posts I make. The reason I do this is because I like to divide the amount of posts by my earnings and see what my daily post average pay is. I am just here to kill time and have fun, as I have not earned much money.

I guess so too, since we can't possibly earn a lot out of this site anyway, as in posting here 24 hrs and get the thoughts to post here... we should be editors or journalists if that's the case. But then again, I think the sharing ideas and life cultural knowledge seems to give me the kick here. Was planning to earn a few bucks out of it, then I think well, this few bucks, if I can also help people and learn things while earning this few bucks it will be totally worth it. Cheers~!

yes, since i got addicted to mylot last december, i set goals when i log in to this site. like sometimes, my goal is to answer and reply to 20 discussions or 50 or higher. depends on my time availability. and i find it helpful to set goals. i get to learn better through the discussions, know people and earn at the same time.
when logged in, i always check the discussions i've started from time to time to see if i got new responses and reply to each one, all if possible.

Yeah, I kind of have 1 main one. Not to spam. This site is full of spam, and I don't really want to contribute to it. I would add on to this post, buy I gotta go. Sorry.

WOW, this is great. I've never thought about this. I'm on day number 4 or 5 here, so I'm constantly learning here. I do think that this is a good idea, depending on your time. What I do right now is to try leave off on an even number too. I never even realized that I did that until I read this discussion. One thing that I try to do is to check every day my number of posts against the money I've made. Don't know why yet, but maybe just to try to find out how much I get per post. I just read someone here say that, so it's in my mind right now. One thing I do, I'm not sure if you'd consider it a goal, is to only post meaningful responses. I don't like those useless respsonses, they really make things worse, so I don't want to be like them. I'm unemployed right now, and every little bit of money helps. But, I know that I'm not going to make tons here. I just like the discussions here and how quickly people have replied to my questions. It does feel like a community (like my hometown) with a few jerks (spammers, abusers). I try not to let all the meaningless posts annoy me. Now that I know about rating the posts, I'm trying to do that more often. Right now I'm spending more time on the bad ones, as I really want these abusers/spammers to get lost. I will do a (+) though it the discussion or post was helpful to me. Eventually I'll try to get into the habit of doing them all. There, I just set a myLot goal (hehehe).

Yes, I do seem to have goals. One of them was to post 100 posts a day. I have not been able to make it today because I have been so busy with other things, but I'm going to keep plugging along.
