Who threw you a baby shower? Have it while pregnant or after the baby is born?

I just wondered how many of you have a shower -- especially with the second or third (or more) children if people still threw you a shower?

I was lucky and had two baby showers. when i got pregnant i was still in college. i was 5 months when college was over and all of my friends were moving away so we all thought a baby shower would be our last excuse for a party before everyone went their seperate ways. so two of my friends threw me a party with all of the people we went to school with. then when i was 6 months i delivered my baby (preemie and doing good) so my baby shower that my family threw me happened after she was born. she was in the hospital for 2 months and we had the shower 2 days before she came home. because she was a preemie it wasn't good to have a bunch of people around touching her on her first day home when she was used to being in an incubator and never being touched.

When i was pregnant with my 1st child, my husband's mom and my mom didn't get along so i ended up having two babyshowers. My mom gave me one at her house and invited my side of the family. My mom-n-law had one at her house, and invited my husbands side of the family. Now with my 2nd pregnancy, my aunt tabby threw me a baby shower at her house. she invited myside and my husband's side of the family. my mom and mom-n-law both showed up. and they were both on their best behavor. lol. when i was pregnant with my 3rd child (my husband and i were no longer together during this time... it was my finace's baby) my mom and aunt tabby threw me a baby shower at my house. it was very nice... and the best part... my exhusband's mom wasn't there...lol

My Aunt & Godmother threw my shower for me. It was exactly one week before my son was born. The theme was carebears. It was really nice!

Oh how sweet! With my son the theme was puppy's and trains but my daughter didn't really have a theme. The cake was Precious Moments though and was beautiful.
I used to watch CareBears on Saturday morning cartoons.

A baby shower is where your friends and family get together, someone throws a party or celebration in honor of you and your miracle, and they give you lots of gifts..i.e. diapers, clothes, bottles, pacifiers, bibs, etc.

I only have had one baby so far and my sister and a good friend of mine threw me a baby shower about a month or so before my son was born.
For my sister - she has two kids and we only threw her a baby shower for the first child.

I did have a wonderful baby shower at a local country club. My mother put it on for me because I was having twins and needed much help. As an extra incentive for me and the guests I asked each invite to bring a box of diapers and for each box they brought, they would receive a raffle ticket for a massage. I ended up getting enough diapers for my twins that lasted 8 months! People were awfully generous.

I didn't have a baby shower but i'm sure it'll be fun to have one :) Most of my friends had their baby shower while they were pregnant and most of them knew already the gender of the baby so those invited will know what color of the gift they'll be giving especially if the gift are clothes... :)

I just have one child. My sister and mom threw me a baby shower when he was 4 months old. The only reason they waited so long was because I live 1000 miles away from home so that was the first time we were able to go home after the baby was born.
They actually turned it into a barbeque, too, and invited all the male relatives and males that I was close to from church. The guys sat outside and talked and ate while we played games and opened presents and stuff inside. It was really nice.
Probably when I have another baby it will be something similar. It just worked out so nicely last time. And of course no one brought us big presents because he was already 4 months old so we had all the big stuff already. It would be nice to do it again so we could get the stuff that you need with every baby, like diapers, clothes, and bath products.

My mom and my aunt threw my baby shower for me. I was about 8 months pregnant when we had it. I'm on my third pregnancy and I've had no other shower other than my first. It's not uncommon these days for people to have more than one shower.

My family is in California and we live in New York. My husband's family also doesn't have baby showers until after the baby arrives. So far we plan on going to CA when I'm around 6 months for a baby shower there - my Mom really wants to throw me one and I don't want to fly much later than that. Then we'll have one here after the baby is born.

My sister in law threw a shower for me when I was about 7 months pregnant. I do have a 15 & 12 yr old step kids, but this was our first together, and my first and only. It'd been quite a while since we'd had a baby in the family, so everyone was excited. I thought it was great, and we got loaded up with pretty much all the "stuff" we needed. I wouldn't expect another shower if we had another baby. Other family members have had multiple kids and not had more showers. I think it's not necessary once you have the basics.

I didn't have a baby shower with my first son. My second one, my workplace threw me one. It was awesome (this was while I was in the Air Force.) With this one a good friend of mine has already decided she's going to throw me one.

I had three baby showers (while I was pregnant) with my first child. They were thrown by my sister and mom, by our church and by a friend.
With my second and third child we didn't have a single shower hosted for us. It wasn't as big of a deal with the second one as we had our second girl, but when our boy arrived we could have used a few extra things! Though my sister and sister-in-law have more then made up for it as they both have boys older then our son and have given us gobs and gobs of clothes!
