Why do people ask lesbians which one is the man?

Do people really think one has to be more masculine? Or could they both be masculine or both be feminine? Why do masculine and feminine have to go together?

Just to know who will penetrate who in the 2 females. If its a gay this question will not raise as both can do that. In the other case, both are females and there comes up this question.
All males have some feminine qualities & viceversa.
