Cooking is fun!

I love food. I like all spicy food. But when it come to cooking. although I am interested, I am also a bit scared as to how it will turn up. I am yet to try my hand in it. If possible you can give me some tips to start of with cooking. Tell me more about filipino cooking or better give a simple recipe which i can try out. I am from India and i want to see if there is any similarity between our dishes.
