I am like you, I can't decorate very well. In fact, I couldn't decorate our walls for the life of me. I tried getting some nice pictures at some local stores and yard sales last year, but when I put them up, they just didn't look right.
Right now, all we have hanging in our house are multiple pictures of our daughte.r

Art that I actually painted! Its a fun hobby... you basically buy a canvas, a brush, and all the colors you like. Slap some paint on the canvas according to your mood... and voila! you have art.

In my room at home, I have pictures and artwork from friends, posters from plays that I've been in the orchestra for, programs and brochures for plays and shows (almost fully covering one wall), some music related posters including my autographed Switchfoot poster, and my collection of drumsticks that I'm having autographed. My dorm room at school is pretty boring though. I have a few cards and pictures from my friends hung up, and then my poster of Fenway park, but there isn't a lot of space for a ton of decorations.

In my living room I have tons of pictures of our son. In our bedroom I have some metal things I got from pier one that holds candles hanging up, a frame that matches, and some van gogh pictures. And then in my kitchen I have some real pretty flower pictures that match the paint in our kitchen. They came from Target. Then I have just different kinds of wall hangings throughout the rest of the house.

My walls are also covered with photos of family and friends. I also have a big picture of a cross that I drew, my bedroom is fairly small so it doesn't take much to cover my walls. The rest of the house has photos and pictures of deer because my dad is a hunter.

well mostly...crayon! lol
We have a lot of mirrors, you can't go wrong with mirrors, lol. Also a lot of flower pictures. Once I get the upstairs hall painted, that's where all my pics of my kids are going to go. It might be a couple years, ha.

I don't have any artwork, either. Not like paintings or anything that I've bought myself. My family have a few old paintings that they have hung up around the house, but these weren't my decision to have, although they are all nice!^_^ But in my room, my personal space, I do have newspaper clippings and things up from shows that I have been to on one wall that is like a big bulletin board. I'm really not much of one for worrying about home decor too much.*laugh*

I don't have any art on my walls (other than a country sculpture piece of a sheep) because I've got plaster walls and I didn't learn until a few years ago how to make holes without damaging the plaster! Now I don't have time to hang art, so it's just propped up against the walls until I get around to it. I would suggest that you find things you like (for example chickens), determine the style you like (modern, impressionist, abstract) and seek out those images first. Good luck!

Basically, the only things on our walls is our photography! I made a pact to myself, way back when I was younger, as my parents kept hanging ugly things on our walls, that the only things on our walls would be done by me, my husband, or our children/family/friends. And that's the way it's been!
Well, wait, I take that back. We have a wedding invitation on the wall in our hallway, and a collage of my wedding flowers, tiara, jewelry, and our vows, in a bubble frame on our bedroom wall. But OTHER than that, just our photography!

I am an art collector. I have lots of prints and original paintings on my walls. I also have some photos of my daughter.
