Do looks matter to you when selecting a mate or a partner?

I ask that question because I had a couple of relationships online and they didn't work out because I reckoned it was because looks did matter very much to these young ladies. Hey I'm by no means ugly, what I mean is that while we were just chatting online and on the phone I think that they painted themselves a picture of what they thought I should look like and when we actually met I didn't live up to that mental picture they had of me. The funny thing was, was that they swore black and blue that looks didn't matter to them! I mean they weren't any Miss Universes themselves, but then I didn't expect them to look like Miss Universe, but I think they expected me to look like Brad Pitt or someone like that. So please be honest and tell me what you think.
