Saddam, Arabic for "one who confronts", carried many titles once upon a time -- the Anointed One, Glorious Leader, Direct Descendant of the Prophet, Great Uncle, and of course, President of Iraq. He wished to be remembered as a second Saladin, the great defender of Islam against the Crusaders.
The execution of Saddam Hussein, the defiant Middle East strongman ousted in 2003 during a U.S.-led invasion, closes a disturbing chapter in Iraq's history.

No I do not think the hanging of Saddam is going to instigate another World War...he was not as grand a figure in the ultimate scheme of things as the media portrays and his execution and those who were angered by it is not impacting the world community on a whole that all the countries wish to start invading or killing someone and having the ole battle royale
