haha, i feel the same way. none of maynards bands will ever reach what tool has. but at the same time his other bands still achieve something that most other bands dont.

Mer De Noms is really good, almost more than Tool albums. But in the complex, I prefer Tool.

I have to go with Tool as well. A Perfect Circle will always be considered a side project for me, and I don't even like it much to start with, I think they have some pretty lousy songs mixed with average songs. Tool is vastly superior in every single aspect.

well maynard obviously considers tool his main band, but i dont think that just bc of that apc should be discounted. thay have some really good songs.

i love both APC and Tool. i don't have a favorite of the two. It all depends on my mood at the time.
Mayard has an amazing voice. He really, really does. It's so soothing and beautiful.

his voice can be both soothing and aggrevating. thats what makes him the best lyricist, in my opinion.

Tool is for males.
APC is for females.
I like em' both but Tool will always be my favorite of the two. APC has their spot in my catalogue though, great for certain situations.

its funy, my girlfriend recently said the exact same thing. i wonder, what is it about tool that speaks to men, and what is it about apc that speaks to women?

Tool has always been a concrete must in my music library. Their impact is incomparible with other bands, and their lasting qualities far surpass those of recent bands trying to do what only they can do. They will always be in my heart, but I have grown exceedingly fond of A Perfect Circle. Not only because of a greater gentleness in comparison, but because this gentleness does not drain the intensity of the lyrics and the power of the intent. I feel a different facet of Maynard come through in A Perfect Circle, the part of him that won't die. I appreciate the band's progression and distinct sound.

Hmm.. a difficult question, i say.. I've always loved tool for their music and style, but lately i've begun to like a perfect circle more and more because their music is profound and soothing, and not that heavy. I like both of these bands to an equal degree, but I'd say that my favourite song of the lot is '3 Libras' by A Perfect Circle :)

Tool is, to me, a different level than APC. You could say that APC is a sort of mellow version of Tool.. and the entity of the bands are still very different. If I were to judge both bands on profoundness and mystery, I would go for Tool.. but then again a song as Magdalena can drive me crazy.. ;)

ehh..kind of a hard question..not really different music in a way...anyway there's the noose, pet, the package, blue, and so much more in a perfect circle, and the pot, aenima, 46 and 2, undertow, and so much more for tool..since tool is older, probably i'd pick them but nevertheless i like them both a lot

Oh. I like Tool. I have A Perfect Circle album on my iTunes. But I have a Tool CD in my car. I like tool because it seems like there is less of a song. And more explicit something. I can't judge by past albums, I am not a major fan. I only own one of each. I also like the Alex Grey drawings. Those are neat. I've read a book about him, how he came to be an artist. His struggles. He was really different at some points. But now he is succeeding, and his art is amazing.I think it is the best I have seen in these early years. It is just so explanatory. He likes the human body. And I like the human body. And he is curious. I am curious. But he also incorporates things of finite and it's opposite I think. And those when there is no shame. It's really challenging to look at for me.
