What's wrong with asking a lady her age?

When people say you shouldn't ask a lady her age, I can just not understand why not? I'm a female, and never had any problems when anyone asked my age neither did any of my female friends. I hardly know anyone who would mind telling her actual age, then why is it considered to be impolite?

women try to hide their really age baceuse she wants to be forever younger. She try to be forever beautiful because she wants to have a nice life
