The Euro, what changes did you notice when your old currency was replaced?

I keep hearing a lot of stories about how the Euro has made everything a lot more expensive in most countries that took it up. My country, Iceland is not a member of EU but there has been a lot of talk about replacing the Iceandic Krona with the Euro, without even joinng EU. Others want to join the EU and then here are loud voices saying both options would kill us as a nation.
If the Euro is the currency in your country, what difference do you think it has made? Did you notice price increase? Did it change interest rates?
At the moment I'm against taking up the Euro in Iceland but I know I don't know all the advantages or disadvantages. It would be very interestng to hear what you have to say.
Please, if you don't have anything real to add to this discussion, don't respond with things like "I don't know" or "We don't have the Euro".
