I too have lost extended family members, children who went into foster care and were adopted by people we didn't know when they were 5, 4 and 3. DO you still get any contact with your birth mom?
Me, I think you CAN choose your family. I had a lot of ptoblems at home when I was a kid and ended up trying to find my own family. I had a foster mother who I loved very much. I consider my best friend to be my sister, and her children call me their auntie. I have two little girls who were in foster care before, and now live with their dad, who call me their pretend mommy. Family is as family does.
If you still want to think of your birth mom as part of your family, she is! Sometimes we love people but have to tell ourselves that, because of their behavior, we cannot be around them.
Good luck!

It is true that you cannot choose your relatives because you are destined to be born in some family and face some thing which has to happen. You get your present life and family based on your previous lives good merits and sins. Everything will take in effect on its own.
