There is a certain type of Cancer gene that can be detected to tell you if you are at a great risk of getting breast or ovarian cancer in your life.
If you found out you had the gene would you go ahead and remove your breasts and ovaries?
If you are a man, what do you think about this for your mom, sisters, wives, daughters?
Do you think that is going overboard?
Would you even want to get tested for the gene?
I don't think I even want to be tested. What would I do with the information anyway? I don't think I would go to such drastic measures as that.

I wouldn't have surgery if I hadn't had cancer. No, sorry. I'd be vigilant about getting screened often, and Id have the surgery if necessary. BUt not until something turned up. I don't think I'd make a rash decision. Most of us are already at risk for cancer, are we going to cut off anything that might get cancer, in order to avoid it? I don't think we should be cutting off body parts because we MIGHT get cancer. I would cut off non-necessary parts if i DID have cancer. BTW, my husband just said that he'd cut my boobs off himself if they were cancerous, and he'd buy me new ones. :P

I would not remove my ovaries if I could avoid it. Having kids has been such a huge part of my life. They wanted to do a complete hystarectamy on me at 20 & I checked myself out of the hospital over it.
