I wonder what makes people so allergic to peanuts

I found out some years ago I was allergic to mangoes and boy are they good and not too long ago i found my son was allergic to peanuts his eyes swells badly and a friend of mine's daughter had a seizure do to her eating peanut butter and its amazing that a lot of children are allergic to this but they hand this out for school snacks.
