Should I quit my job?

I've been at my current job for 2 years. It is just a mall job, pretty much just a cashier, but I've really enjoyed working there, I love the people I've met, and I know how to do pretty much everything there is to do. I've been through hell and back with this store, from seeing it almost close to now waiting for it to expand to double it's size. In the past 2 years I've gotten 2 raises. I started at $7/hour. I got a 25 cent raise after almost 9 months, and my current manager got me up to $8/hour when she first got there in the early summer of 2006. While I was really happy making a full dollar more than I had started at, the manager is now hiring people at $7.75/hour to $8/hour. Which is what I'm making, after two years of experience. I'm making the same amount as people that I train, people that sit on their butts and do nothing, people that know how to do a fraction of what I know how to do. It really sucks. My friend (who is in the same situation) and I brought this up to our manager yesterday. She pretty much didn't hear a word that we said. She told us she'd try to raise us to $8.50, but we then wouldn't get raises with everyone else when the store expands. If everyone is getting a raise, that puts us in the exact same situation. She also told us that the district manager told her to hire people at $7.75. Which is funny, because last week she told me that the district manager told her to stop hiring people so high. Now I'm afraid that my manager is going to fire me because I'm now on her "bad side". She has a history of getting personal in the workplace and "unlawful termination". So basically, after talking to my manager, the situation isn't improving, I'm still working my bum off, and now I'm worried I'm going to be fired. Here's the thing though: I go to college out of state. I only work at this store on weekends, breaks, and stuff. It's nice to have someplace to come back to, and to be able to have the schedule flexibility that my manager gives me after being there for so long. I definitely wouldn't get that at another store. I just don't know what to do. Should I just sit around worried about being fired? Should I quit and leave all this bullshit behind me? I don't need all this drama, but at the same time, I'm pretty attached to the job...

Well I think if you just quit youll miss the regular wage but I think youre getting warning signs so Id look around for another job, maybe nearer college (you could check on the cllege noticeboard) or nearer home in the papers or something Just play it cool and dont tell anyone but if the jobs going really badly then maybe you should just leave

I think if its causing you that much stress, then you should quit cause its not worth it. You can always look for another job while you still have this one, that way you can still be making money while looking for greener pastures. Good luck
