I love Enya too. I don't even remember when I discovered her, it's been that long ago. Can I make a recommendation? There's a new group, Celtic Woman, who are fantastic too! They have that same quality, sometimes a bit more upbeat in their some of their songs, yet still uplifting. They've had a concert on the PBS channel here several times already. Check your local listings to see if they are going to be on your PBS channel if you're interested. I want to get their CD to add to my Enya CD's. Their music is great too, but for soothing, I'd opt for Enya still, most times.

You are quite right. Celtic music is a beautiful genre of music, and Enya has the voice of an angel. But if you emphasize on 'Celtic music' precicesly, then I have something to add. We get a more celtic touch from the works of Moya (Maire) Brennan than Enya. Especially, the song 'Tapestry' from her album signature, 2006, and 'Follow the word' from Whisper to the Wild Waters, 1999, have a true celtic effect. I loved those songs.

Two great Celtic bands are Iona (which incorporates a symphonic feel) and the Chieftans. I would highly recommend both to celtic fans.

Celtic music may be "new" for you, but that particular genre has been around for quite a while. :) Try some of the "founders" that laid the groundwork for what we have today: Tommy Makem and the Clancy Bros, the Tannahill Weavers, the Chieftains, Clannad, Andy Stewart, and others such as Silly Wizard and Silly Sisters, not to mention filk/folk artists such as Meg Davis, Heather Alexander, Tempest, Lief Sorbye, Juanita Coulson, Leslie Fish, David Arkenstone, Steve McDonald, Darby DeVon, and Mercedes Lackey.
