My 2 year old has not been eating right for a few days. And It was starting to worry me. My mom and sisters tell me not to worry he will eat when he is hungry. But still as a mom I was starting to get worried about him. Well tonight I made spaghetti and gave him his plate and he ate it. I was so happy when He said more Mommy. Althought he is a mess and is now throwing it all over the kitchen. Im very happy he ate today. Is it normal for kids his age to just not eat sometimes?

Yes, My son does the exact same thing. He went on an eating "strike" for about 2-3 days, not eating more than maybe one bite at each meal (if I was lucky) I called the doctor, and he said, just give him as much fluids as you can.. and we'll wait another day.. sure enough the next day I got him to eat and eat and eat!!! Sometimes they just aren't hungry.. or in my son's case, he would rather play than eat! He does it every once in a while.. and I just wait it out.. knowing that when he DOES eat, he'll catch up!
GOOD LUCK!

most probably your kid had some flue or common cold or some distention in abdomen so he did not eat and as he recovered he resumed his diet

I have heard that it is normal for kids, especially at that age, not to always feel hungry when you think that they should be. I know that as a parent it must be so hard not to worry, though! :/ I'm just glad to hear that your son ate his spaghetti, even if he didn't eat all of it! *laugh* I wouldn't worry if he didn't, but I feel relief for you since I know that you must have felt worried until he ate something.

It is fairly normal for a child to goes a few days were they don't eat and then after that they appear to eat you out of house and home. It is part of the growth spurt they go threw. However if he is not acting like his "normal" self then you do need to be concerned. to me it sounds like you have a growth spurt to look forward to

Kids are this age are more in tune with their "full" mechanism than adults. Adults tend to keep eating even though we don't feel hungry. Children will usually stop when they've had enough. Trying to fight with them to get them to eat isn't worth it. In the end it teaches them bad habits.

Is your baby thin? Well my mom still reminds me sometimes of my childhood days. It seems I never use to eat, but when I eat, I do it like no one else:-). It's really funny but a fact. My mom use to take me to the doctor for health checkup everytime as she was worried that I don't eat properly, but the doctors always diagnosed me as normal healthy child. Well, that was my case in my childhood and I just wanted to share with you. But I have a feeling that you should take your baby for checkups regularly as your baby is just 2yrs old. Have a great time with your baby...

It's very normal. As kids grow thier bodies know what it needs and what it doesn't. I am sure he was eating just enough to satisfy himself just not you. I panicked the first time my child did that. Even taking her to the Dr. he made me feel better after explaining the same thing to me.

To answer your question....yes, it is VERY normal for children that age to "not feel like eating" sometimes. I have 4 children, and my youngest is 2. I am so used to dealing with children his age, so I don't worry at all if he doesn't have a big appetite sometimes. As long as your baby is growing properly, and is not underweight, you need not worry. His body is going through many changes, and his appetite can be affected by that.

I have a 2 year old daughter..she used to be a great eater as a baby and until she turned about 18 months...she started getting picky with the foods, she would eat and only liked cereal and hot dogs for the longest time...after about a couple of months..she started eating normal again..I think, that it maybe has to do with their taste spuds..they experience different tastes and might like the new foods or not..My little girl, went through, this picky state, for almost 6 mos.I took her to the doctor,he said, that she was fine and she would eat, than hungry..so don't worry too much.

I watch kids at my home and this is just something I think most of them go through at about that age. All of the ones I have taken care of have gone though that stage of not wanting to eat, I've got one going through it right now. The doctor told his mom that he's fine and when he gets hungry that he will let her know. And not to make them eat if they don't want it.

I dont know whether it is normal or not but my almost 3 year old is a picky eater. He only tends to eat just chicken nuggets and waffles and sometimes pizza but other than that you can forget it. He use to eat yogurt but he seem not to even like that anymore. I need to go and get him some vitamins. Sometimes I think I give him too much juice and maybe that fills him up but he still wants what he wants. Like yesterday he would not eat any thing i had in the house until my husband got home from work and bought in a pack of nuggets can you guess the boy eat about 12 of them.
