Go to http://www.typingtest.com and try it out! You can find out what your average WPM is! ^_^ I was pretty amazed - it turns out that my average WPM typing from the Wizard of Oz paragraph that they supplied was 81 wpm! I had no idea that I could type so fast! I really think that spending so much time typing here at Mylot has made my typing speed increase greatly! *laugh* ^_^

My WPM averaged about 40 WMP. This ain't to bad I don't guess since I just woke up and am drinking my first cup of coffee. Plus I have not had to type for speed in many a moons. Back in my school days when I was learning to type my WMP was about 80 to 90 WMP. Very interesting site I have never seen that before thanks for sharing :)

Well for me I can type faster if I am just posting and thinking what I am going to post but having to keep looking up at a scene drastically lowers my typing score for sure. I have 37 words per minute trying to read and type at the same time. I can type way faster then that though if I am typing my own thoughts.

I hate typing tests too. I have never been very good at them, because as soon as I know I am being tested my fingers seize up, so I never really get an accurate picture of how fast I type under normal circumstances. I did try the test and got 64 wpm.

I have tried several times to take those typing tests and I always mess it up some how. It never turns out right. I know how fast I type and it always says that I type slower than I really do.

it's a really fun test to do. i was pretty nervous about it as it's been quite some time since i took a test. i did the one about the typewriter, can't remember the name of the article already. it's a 3 min test for me as i want to know what kind of speed i can sustain. turn out i wasn't typing as fast as i'd like. there are a few mistakes made too. ;p

When I was very young, a teenager, in fact, I was advised to learn typing. Rather than go to a school to learn I bought the text books on typing and taught myself at home on my typewriter.
Of course, I learnt to type with two fingers. Years later, I got a job as a typist and discovered, to my amazement, that my speed was just as good and acceptable as a trained typist on all ten fingers.
I kept the job for four years and still type with two fingers.

Pretty cool... my typing speed was 65 wpm on the same one you did, the Wizard of Oz paragraph. Nice for people who need to know how fast they actually can type. Plus, it is great practice as well!

So that was FUN!
It reminded me of when I was in business college and had to do the timed typing tests..ha...I didn't do too bad..I think the name of the test I chose was something like the "enchanted typewriter" and I actually got 72 wpm with an accuracy of 100%...YAY!
Thanks for sharing that link.

Wow! I thought I was the only geek that did that. I go to that website all the time to polish up on my typing skills. Alot of people are weirded out by that. lol

I know I can type faster then 54, but that is what I got. lol But I am on a laptop too, which isn't as easy (I think) to type at a good spee and have your hands at the right angle to type. lol I'll have to come back once our regular computer is up and running to test it again.

I know that site, I got 40 wpm with 96% accuracy. I don't know if it's ok. Maybe it is just 40% because I have to copy what I am reading and from time to time and I have to stop unlike when you are just typing what's in your mind.

That was fun :). For some reason, I can never get above 60 wpm. I even took 2 full years of typing in high school, but just can't build my speed up further than that. I'm not terribly coordinated, maybe that has something to do with it.
I typed the tiger paragraph.

I can type around 47 wpm. Not great but I think I'm going to start practicing and see if I can get up to at least 55 wpm with little error. And it would help if the kids would be somewhere else.
