Do you think "beautiful" people have an advantage?

Yes, I do agree. Ever since I was sixteen or so, I've been given discounts, free food, bumped ahead in lines, given free drinks at bars, let into clubs without paying... and all because I fit a media ideal of what's attractive. For a long time I was a tall, skinny blond with big blue eyes and double Ds. I have had to fill out two job applications in my life. All my high school jobs, I walked in and was hired on the spot. The managers were male. I cut my hair, dyed it black, stopped wearing makeup and started wearing baggy clothes that hid my figure. All that preferential treatment? Stopped completely. I don't agree with this at all. Yes, I've benefited from it, but that doesn't mean it's okay. There's absolutely no reason to judge a person's worth based on their looks. I want to be judged on who I am and what I offer as a person, not because I look a certain way.

I dont think so that beauty is the only one that makes the difference..... it is the talent that is taken into account..

I don't know about "beautiful," but I've seen studies showing that attractive people tend to get promoted at jobs more than unattractive people. Supposedly thin or average weight people have a similar advantage over heavy people.

i think it should be a case of being jugded on your ability and not your looks everyone has the same inside so why should it matter. all of us have the smae dimensions on our faces its just some are displayed diffrently to others i would never be mean to someone just because of the way they look

i think coz many think that beautiful face reflects bautiful heart. though it may not be true. coz sometimes you find a beautiful person with bad attitude. maybe its a nature that people like beautiful things/persons. even you may pick beautiful/handsome person to be your spouse. though the ideal thing is people judge by their ability/skill/inner beauty but the world doesnt go that way

Absolutely. There are tons of studies that show that people react more positively to people who are attractive. It's not fair, but that's how the monkey-brain works. It also helps to be tall.

I thinks there is and it is clearly demonstrated by everyone. But I don't think that it's always the case, when you get to know the person better beauty becomes another one of their characteristics. And in time beauty just fades away.

for me, not most of the beatiful person has an advantage for the job qualifications. most of the companies are looking for a pretty but they have the brains

yes its tru that beautiful ppl hav advantages ... and especially when its a gal ... i hav seen it in my school, in my collage, among my frenz and everywhere i go .. its difficult 2 ignore this fact ... i get insane sometimes abt it

i think that they are looked at first because they have a pleasing appearanc but i also feel that most employer regret hiring a person based on appearances but do it any way

for me,not most of the beautiful people have the advantage. In my country, the companies are looking for a graduate student, beautiful and most of all is have the brains....

The judgement of beauty is different from cognitive or moral judgement because it is effected subjectively, that is, exclusively in reference to the person making the judgement. The idea of beauty lies in the beholder's eye so someone that appears beautiful to you might be ugly to someone else.. But at the end of it all some are just too beautiful and i think that those have advantages in getting the men they desire.

yes i think beautiful people get advantage at first. then as usual everything depends on the nature of the person and how he treats others. but first impression depends on your personality no matter how good you are from inside. being beautiful has its own benefits. beautiful people thinks they are confident and this thinking keeps them going. everything depends on own's thinking. beauty has its own benefit but being smart and presentable is equally important. so beautiful or ugly, either can be impressive if they conduct them properly. All women are beautiful in different ways.

I agree with the fact that beautiful woman has extra advantage in comparison to any man(whether he is the most handsome). Beautiful woman are given first priorities than any handsome man. This actually happens at most places if not 100 percent. Employers have something bad going in their minds that forces them to give jobs to a good looking lady while leaving out a deserving candidate.

Yes, this has been put to the test many times with the results that you describe. Sad, isn't it. Although there have been women of true beauty who claim women treat them badly, probably due to jealously.

but remember that beauty also varies in the eye of the one who sees it. what may beautiful from you may not be beautiful for others and vice versa..

Interesting topic. If beautiful people have the advantage than I am way out of luck. lol. Im not sure how to answer it so i will just give you my opinion. I have never read anything about this, but I would say YES i believe that beautiful people have an advantage and this is why. Typical Hormones. lol. If you have a male boss he is going to want to see a beautiful woman all day instead of a not so pretty women and if you have a femaile boss they would rather see an attractive male all day instead of a not so attractive male.
