In Europe its definitely the soccer fever with its league matches for every country, European championships and many more. And I dont think they could like to play a game with lasts for one whole days and tests which are for five days. And coming to Americans they wont be playing games which come from other countries but invent a new game out of the already existing ones and name it American Football or American Cricket.

cricket was not known in u.s uptill late 90's...europe did knew about cricket.. but the way england team was playing from late 70's to early 90's...the english fans lost their interest in cricket and diverted to football in that period ...cricket was a slow game then and never picked up speed in those years...there were only few exciting players in that era such westindian greats like vivian richrds.wes hall, joel garner..richard hadleefrom nz..etc etc..and comparitively football was much faster game.. slowly football spread all over europe..and hence cricket lagged behind... in todays world..cricket is being played in more than 200 countries but due to selection process and other criterias... icc(international cricket counsil)does not consider them as international teams...even countries like france, germany, scotland, holland, play cricket and some have also participated in past world cups...japan korea also play cricket... please go to icc website..and u will come to know...cricket is gaining popularity... just give some time...ok.. i hope i have solved ur query

The favorite sport of USA is football and baseball. Football in USA is similar to what we call Rugby in Sri Lanka. Also the national sport of Sri Lanka which our villagers played is "Elle" a game just like baseball. But somehow or other Cricket came to the limelight and Elle is not played on a national level. Baseball is not popular where Cricket is.

Hi. I'm an American and I am probably in the 95th percentile as far as cricket knowledge amongst Americans. I've read the rules and everything and I almost understand how to play. I think the problem is the game is similar to baseball which is America's past time and baseball isn't very popular where cricket is. Also, from what I understand, a game of cricket can take days to play while baseball can be played in a couple of hours. Baseball is much more spectator-friendly in my opinion but I'm sure cricket is a great game if that's what you're used to.
