who is owner of internet??

Friends i came to know that u.s govt is having indirect control over internet. Is that true???

Nobody owns it.It is accessible by all throughout the world ifi it has been owned by somebody then it would not have been free

Seems something wierd. There is no ways that US govt. can have any direct or indirect control over internet. Infact none of the country can have the exclusive direct or indirect control over it.

i didn't heard about this? is it really? but i know that in 1958 first in US we have a country wide network system, which was a part of US defense advance research center. and that was the first step toward internet. i don't not any particular country can own internet.
