Why are some people so against races???

United States

I don't know why but sometimes when I walk in public, I get dirty looks and people would look at me so low and weird. And to make matter even worst spit at me and make a very bad comment or just don't like me because I'm different. I feel like people think that I'm not good enough for them and that I need to go back where I came from. Well, first of all, I was born here in the USA and I'm no different then anyone but I get attack because of who I am and my skin color. Why can't people just except me for who I am and understand that being different is okay and we can learn alot from each other. For once in my life I was corrected for my english because it was terrible. But hey, I was so young and yet, still learning. English is my second language and I apologize if I'm not properly saying something right. When someone finds themselve better then me and thinks that I don't got class, I feel like I'm such a loser. But as I grow and learn more about this world, I don't have to take anyones statement for any reasons. Either you like it or hate it. If you hate it, ignore it, walk away or around it. Don't try to make matter worst and become enemies. Life would be much easier if the world can get along with everyone and just live happily and peacefully.

Some say ignorance is bliss. So there are a lot of happy people out there that have a problem with races that are not of their own. It's blacks against mexicans and mexicans against blacks and whites against all but am thankful we aren't all like that. Hold your head high and just remember not everyone is the same and have pity in your heart for the ignorance of others. Don't hate them for hating you because well then it makes you the same as they are. If someone ever spits on you report it.

I don't like people spitting at me either and yes it is a very rude thing and yes you can report it. I would if it keeps happening. You are in the US you don't have to put up with it. No one has the right to show anyone disrespect. If you are just walking down the street minding your own business and it happens. But if you respond back with a remark and or gesture or anything then probably won't do you any good to report it.

I don't like people spitting at me. It's just straight up rude and nasty. If I report, what will happen next? Can I really report this and have actions?

People who judge someone by their race are just ignorant. If someone is different from them or comes from a different culture maybe they feel intimidated or threatened in some way. We are all here on this earth together and I believe we are all God's children, so we should learn to respect one another.

Hi First thing I did was to look at your profile! I hope that the pic is REALLY you! Very nice, and LOVE the Music on your page!! Very retro! You seem like a very pretty girl to me, and I dont see how the colour of your skin would attract any adverse attention?? Like I said, you sure look OK to me! Can I take it that your parents are from South America??? Not that this makes any difference! I got to admit, that I have HAD this feeling!! I was in Nairobi, in Kenya, there were not too many "white" people walking down the main street, and I was getting all kinds of looks!! It takes all sorts to make a world!

My parents are normally from Thailand and Lao. They did come a long way but they did rise me well here. I know I'm not a bad person and yes, the avatar is me. People these days are just sometimes hard to understand.

There are people who think others who look different are somehow bad. There are a lot of different kinds of discrimination. People can be very ignorant, and all I can suggest is to rise above them. I don't know where you live, but, it sounds like you might want to move to a more urban environment. It seems to be that city people see more cultures, and are open to everyone.

Where I'm at right now, is so full of two kinds... not going to mention... and with my kind, there's only a few of us and I feel that we shouldn't be treated differently because of one thing, we're all humans here.

I know that thier is a lot of racism out there and with a lot of people it is a sore subject. I don't know if it's because I turned a the other way and ignored it. It has never happened to me. I guess I have been one of the lucky ones. I teach my children that people are people. They have also never encountered it. It is sad to hear that it is out there though. Keep your confidence up and ignore people that can't understand.

i am sorry to hear about your experiences. i wonder why people treat you that way. i mean, we might be different in color and nationality, but we still are human capable of getting hurt at some point. there are just so many people who are rude and just feel that they are better than someone else. they feel good when they look superior than others. they should be the ones being given a weird mad look and being spitted upon. they are the ones who deserve to be treated bad by the society. they are not humans. they are worst than dogs.

People are people and I accept them for who they are, but some just can't do the same with me. It's not okay and it's just not nice.

Well, I am White, born here in the USA and I have had people from other countries or areas I am unfamilier with treat me differently as well, and act like they are superior, so it happens to those of us who are White too. But I had a Supervisor one time who thought since white's were the minority there, we should bow down to her, and not be able to do anything other than take orders. (It started when I was being trained as a fill in dispatcher), and then where I work now, we have a guy who had the gall to ask for Rubber gloves etc. when he sat where I was sitting after I left my shift. I was just really appalled both times. Some people need to be more open and accept people for who they are, and not for what color you are, because no matter what color or race a person is, there is Good and Bad in us all.

Hi! I'm sorry you have had such bad experiences. People just don't think. It seems that anyone who is not like them is "the enemy" or something. Just don't take mean remarks to heart - people make them out of ignorance and stupidity. You know what a great person you are - don't let anyone take that away from you! :-)

Only narrow minded people hate others just because they have a different race. Perhaps they were taught so by their parents or society they live in, but we can only hope that they wake up and see things clearly some day.

Do not feel like that, we all are the children of same God, if people are doing this because of skin color it is they who are ill, Leave them to God and have pity on them. Just ignore and be friends with good people as this world is a combination of good and bad, choice is yours whom to select.

Hi lovely lady, I don't think all people are like that. You must have grown up in a bad neighborhood. But, I still don't get it, it's the 2000's already and it's USA where it's the land of many races and oppurtunity. I feel like you are living in a neighborhood in the 1940's where its the era of the racists.

Don't let them get to you. There way more people out there who think discrimination is horrible and unjust. The stupid ones just tend to be louder. I keep hoping that each generation that comes gets a little smarter and realizes that appearance has nothing to do with who a person is. Teach the young and save the future!

Life would be much easier if we all could look at eachother in the same way. People who judge by either the color of your skin or your accent or anything related to your appearance is truly a sad case. Nobody should be judged for any reason.

i think you got it wrong your a beautiful women and should be proud of the fact that some are jealous and others admire your looks- its also possible that there are other reasons for dirty looks ie.. gangstas, female testosterone, and i would be the one smiling at your beauty as a person and women -you can shine where others cant!

I appreciate your statement. I'll say it a compliment. Well, people see things different and I'm sure some see the way you do. I don't let it get to me. I know who I am and I'm a lovely and nice person. REally easy to get along too.

The people who give you those looks and say those stupid comments are just ignorant people. They are not smart enough to accept differences. I am white, but proud to be part of a multi-cultural country (Canada) and I have nothing agaisnt anybody from any races. I always say there are good ones and bad ones in all races, but you can't know until you get to know the person herself, so why judge? This person could end up being your best friend!

that's well stated. I had that happened before. That's why I say don't judge me when you don't know me.

I have no idea why some people are so filled with hate towards others of different races or cultures. It boggles my mind. My mother would say they were obviously raised poorly and are uneducated. I'm sorry to hear what you went through, but it sounds as if you are much stronger despite it. Cheers!

Because most people do not understand that beneath our skins we share the same blood and we live in the same earth and that our happiness are the same including our sadness. That people, black, white, red or yellow skinned are all basically the same. Breathing the same air and drinking the same water from the Earth. If all people understood this then the world would be s better place to live in.

yes. and people feel that they are better creatures than others. what they should realize is that we are all the same and that skin color is just on the surface. just like what you've said, what matters is what lies beneath those skin colors.

i agree with you, we are all humam and we are unique one to the other but we can learn from each other, and live in peace if only each of us would try, english is my first and only language and like many others i don't talk the way some would clasify properly, but who is to say what is proper,if i say ain't and you say isn't i would be called stupid or dumb etc the way i feel about this is that man made all these rules up on how to speak properly if you can understand what i am saying then as far as i am concern i am speaking properly, don't let it get to you, oh by the way there is only one race and that is the human race, non of us is any better than the other one.

Don't get caught up in how people think or view you. That's giving power to others and making yourself vulnerable.
