Yes, I've given birth with an epidural twice, both times were by c-section. Once I was given the epidural, I could no longer feel the contractions, which was wonderful. However, if I were to deliver without a c-section, I would be hesitant to have an epidural for this reason.

Oh, I know. What concerned me was that I could feel nothing from below the waist. I would be afraid that I wouldn't be able to push effectively. My dr told me that I would be fine, but I'm a worrier.

I thought when I first got the meds to be induced that I would be brave enough to not have the epidural..Once the contractions started getting pretty bad, I ended up having to have that epidural. It was wonderful. I could feel pressure, but no pain or discomfort.

hi, ooo talking epidurals im scared now, lol it brings back memories, oh well when i had my baby last year, i was overdue by a week and a few days, they took me in hospital and i accepted the epidural as i was advised by the nurse, that i wouldn't be in labor for a long time and it's a pain reliever, well when i had it, it did help deliver the baby fairly quicker, i wouldn't say it was brilliant in that point tho, and for the pain reliever to be honest, it just didn't work to stop them pains, they were horrible, i don't want you to be scared or anyone but im being honest, i do get quite a few back pains now and then since i had it, and when hving the epidural, my cousins girlfriend said that if im not still it could paralyse me, i don't know how true this is, also it's 12 needles in your spine. to be quite frank with you, im too scared to have another child because thinking about them pains and because that epidural didn't work for me, im thinking well what else would!? i haven't wrote this post to scare anybody and don't be put off because the epidural could be succesful with anybody, but from my experiences, it wasn't for me im afraid. :(

Yes, I have had an epidural which in my lucky life, it didn't seem to work well and now I have back problems. I will say though that epidurals are better than the pain but if you find that it doesn't work be cautious with your back because it can cause problems later on.

Yes I've had an epidural both times I have given birth and I would choose to do it all over again if given the choice. It made me able to cope with labor well I even played cards and talked on the phone while I was in labor. You do know when its time to push though because you still very the very intense pressure. It was shut off as I was about to deliver so I was able to enjoy the whole birthing experience as well.

My first child was an emergency c-section and I had an epidural for that one. I didn't like the feeling of them giving me a shot so close to the spine. It was hard to lay still. I was awake for the c-section (they had a drape so I couldn't see). I felt kind of useless. i could hear everyone talking about my baby but I couldn't even see him because of the drape. By the time I got to see him, he was already wrapped in a blanket. What did suprise me though, was that my husband was allowed in the room for the c-section.

No, I have not used epidural for the birth of my 2 kids. I wanted it to be as natural as possible. I found that it is more painful to be induced. The pain is just so excrutiating, but praise God ,I managed to go through it.

i recieved an epidural with my 1st child. in labor for about 15 hours. I got the epidural after 14 1/2 hours or so. 10 minutes after i got it my daughter was out. With my 2nd child i did not recieve any meds and had a all natural labor. I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and planning a home birth. So natural for this one too :)
