Is it important to keep ur eyes open while singing??

How important is it to keep one's eyes open while singing. I have this habbit that my eyes almost close while im singing. Some of my frns say it luks good, some say u cant xpress urself then. I heard once on Indial Idol, one judge telling a participant to keep his eyes open while singing, as it is a negative point to close ur eyes while singing. On the other hand, I've noticed that even Sonu Nigam himself closes his eyes while performing live..so please tell me, how improtant is it to keep ur eyes open??

Personally, I find that I perform better when my eyes are closed. It's easier to concentrate on singing and playing. When I perform with my eyes open, I get too distracted by things around me and the song ends up being not as good as it could have been.

That is so very true. And that is the same case with me. Its easier to get lost in the song, rather than trying to access ur performance while you are performing on stage and trying to make it look better. You end up screwing up a few notes, which you know you could have done better.

it's not v important to keep ur eyes open......... depends 4m person 2 person..it is a reflex action 2 close eyes while singing.... wen 1 is involvd deeply in d song den his eyes wil close automatically bt if 1 is js singing 4 d sake f singing den d eyes wil nt close..

Yes nice reply Miss Shannon.. :) The closing of the eyes is more of a reflex action. It depends on person to person whether he closes his eyes or not. Thankx for such a nice reply Shani.

keeping your eyes actually matters while u sing in a competition as judges mark ur bravery and confidence through it.it tells how much strain free can u sing,cause usually singers close their eyes when there is a lack of concentration or he has to strain to sing

closing your eyes while singing is okey but not all the time you close eyes, mybe in the line of the song u feel ur emotion that u need to close ur eyes. I do closing my eyes when im in the high notes, but as i do it again and again i slowly open my eyes and look at the people so you can get their attention. Its important to look to ur audience so they can feel the passion of what u singing. Lastly it depends on the song your singing.

i don't believe in all those closing and opening of eyes while singing..but personally i feel that i can go into the mood of the song if i close my eyes and sing...moreover if we keep our eyes open and sing,we may get distracted and the output of the song may lose its charm...
