Hello everyone!
I just needed some advice, or even recommendations when it comes to my dog.. I've noticed that.. Our little Jack Russell sheds a lot on a regular basis. She usually wears a hoodie since it's winter time here & I try to keep her warm. But I do take her hoodie off quite often as well. And will just scratch her, as well as brush her to get rid of her excess hair..
But.. I was just wondering is there anything that I can purchase to minimize it? Are there any type of shampoos that people use for there dogs that they have found to work? I know brushing her helps quite a bit, in which I already do. And it's not like she has a lot of hair like most breeds..
If anyone has any recommendations on things they have found to work when it comes to there dog shedding. I would honestly love to hear what works for others. Or just get some idea's in general & go from there.

my cat was having that problem, of course all cats and dogs shed to some extent, but this was ridiculous! I asked my vet about it, and he had me change his food to Purina ONE, and he gave me an herbal supplement to put in his food each day...it has really helped a lot! I've forgotten the name of the herbal supplement, but when I get it, i'll let you know..in the meantime, you should ask your vet about an herbal supplement...it's gotten his coat really silky, shiny, and he doesn't leave clumps of hair all over any more.

I am having that problem with one of my indoor cats. Today I purchased another quality brand of food, with high oil and no by products in it. Rich in protein. Nutrician is very important for their skin. I also brush her a lot. I bought one of those dog mits to wipe her down for excess hair. I also purchased extra vitamins with oil for her coat. I hope it works, and it may be something that you would like to look into for your dog. Shampoo and baths just dry their skin more. Also, if the climate is dry, you may need a humidifier. Good luck.

I have don't have a dog but i have 2 cats that shed alot to, I was told from the pet store that its because of their diet. They need to have a better diet..I always brush them and i when i pet them i get hair.. So I am going to have to buy better food for them i guess, they are eating purina indoor cat food. I thought that would be a good one.. but i guess i am going to have to get something more expensive like IAMs or Science Diet..The Pet store told me that happends to Dogs and Cats.. Maybe you should look into that.. Maybe you have to change your Dogs diet.. I haven't yet but i am going to.

My cats are shedding alot too. We were using Purina indoor cat food. We switched to IAMS and it is no better. I am going to petco on tuesday and see if there is a better brand. Like you, I thought that purina was a good brand but I found out taht it is not that good as far as my puppy was concerned and I would imagine cat food would be the same.

Awww the dog is so cute. I worked in a groomers shop for a summer and we got this compaint a lot from cat and dog owners. The shedding is caused by many things. Most dogs who are outside only shed in the spring when the weather changes. They are shedding their winter coat. Dogs that are kept inside will shed all year long. You have to groom them daily to get the excess hair off of them, they will still shed but you will get the hair before your clothes do. Also you may want to take the dog to the vet for a check-up. Ring worms, cancer and stress can cause a dog to shed. There is no shampoo that will help but daily brushing will.

Eukanuba is an excellent brand. They do make a difference in the pets coats.

We have an eskimo spitz and he was shedding really bad too. He also had icky breath. I talked to the vet and he suggested Eakanuba Lamb and Rice . It sure did help his breath. He is still shedding but I dont think he is as bad. Hope after using it longer it will get lots better. We have only used it for about 2 weeks now.

I have had that problem with my German Shepherd. I tried all different shampoos I could find. Not even the vet knew what to do. Once I was talking with an old man that lives nearby and he said to change his food. My first reaction was what did food have to do with the problem but decided to give it a try. I changed brand of food and it worked! He still sheds but only during their shedding season.
