ostrich is bird but it will not fly why????

don't they teach you this in school...man its been a while, but if i remember, their bodies are too heavy and their wings are too small, which is why the ostrich relies on its speed to get away from preditors. a slight flaw in evolution, but who cares.

Ostriches are flightless birds. Besides, a bird doesn't have to fly to be a bird. Birds have feathers and ostriches do. Some birds swim like the penguins and they don't fly too like the ostriches. According to wikipedia, Ostriches' feathers are soft and they are used for insulation, and are different from the stiff airfoil feathers of the flying birds.
