Well, I think so as futbol is short in 90 mins. Match-fixing though common for both, still is subdued in Football. There is always Never say die attitude for footballers in comparison to Cricketers.

yes i think you are right for the last two years i have analyzed that football is taking over cricket because its mega event world cup and euro cup comes after 2 years not a span of four years. But now ICC is taking more interest in 20 20 which I think brigns back the attraction of public towards cricket.

Worldwide, football has always been on top of cricket. If you go to the subcontinent, obviously cricket is more favoured. Overall, football is more popular and always has been, so I think it is not right to ask if football has gained over cricket.

Football (also known as association football or soccer) is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players each. It is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world. A ball game, it is played on a rectangular grass field, or occasionally on artificial turf, with a goal at each end of the field. The object of the game is to score by manoeuvring the ball into the opposing goal; only the goalkeepers may use their hands or arms to propel the ball in general play. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game goes into extended time, depending on the format of the competition.
The modern game was codified in England following the formation of the Football Association, whose 1863 Laws of the Game created the foundations for the way the sport is played today. Football is governed internationally by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The most prestigious international football competition is the World Cup, held every four years. This event, the most widely viewed and famous in the world, boasts twice the audience of the Summer Olympics.[1]

No point in comparing both cricket and soccer have different histories and style attached with them. U cant say that there is "never die" sort of thing only in football, its in cricket too, but cricket is more difficult than football, infact more risky than football, can u think of heading the cricket ball like footballers do with their respective ball :D surely out of question this, each and every injury in football can happen in cricket too, but football does'nt share much with cricket's set of injuries !

according to me football can never gain over the cricket because there are more changes going on in the cricket and most of all the crase of cricket in india is much more than that of football so i dont see in the short time that football will gain on cricket

Fella football is still far away from replacing cricket from its position. In india we have lots of free time and whole day matches suit us better.
