about love marriage

y is that many parents r against love marriage in many places in our country only the symbol of love that is the taj mahal is also present then y is that they oppose love

i am not a citizen of India nor belonging to a related culture, but i observed mostly in movies, tv shows, the stereotypical situation: fixed marriages. maybe, i guess, because it is easy to accept someone who they know the background, his/her family, parents, ancestors, social status, reputation, need-to-know details. no need to hire a detective.
