Does science confirm the bible ?

Are the stories in the bible just stories, or does science prove that they really happened as the bible tells us ?

Science does have baring on some of the acts that are noted within the Bible, whether it confirms it or not is still left up to the believer/reader. For example the parting of the red sea, which is still parting now, although moses has no hand in it, is down to a continental Drift. The Arabian tectonic plate and its African counterpart are still moving away from each other, stretching the Earth's crust and widening the southern end of the Red Sea, increased recently by the number of Earthquakes in the region. Wouldn't it be God that has put all the things in place in the past to make all of these things happen in the first place?
