I don't like him. It may be nessecary to let people know they can't sing but there is no reason to belittle them. He should just let them know that singing is not the right career for them and that they should find another hobby. Some of his comments just aren't nessecary. But on the other hand, he makes the show interesting.

Your right, he can be mean to people, but I think it is only when they deserve (OK, most of the time anyways...) If I was a judge and I had someone think they could win a singing contest by being so different by not being able to sing, I think I'd be ruder then Simon.... consider all the idiots he must see and he starts looking like a saint ;)

I like him a lot.And for me the show American Idol owes a lot to this individual. Without Simon this show would have been a plain and blunt.
Simon put spice on the show with all those trash talking and unbiased comments.
Just imagine the show with just Paula and Randy. It would really really be boring!
To Simon :Just Keep those comments coming because we are loving it!

I love Simon! He's responsible for one of my favorite shows. He is a smart business man and his opinions are usually right on target. He says things in a harsh way and sometimes that is what people need to hear. I do admit that he gets a little rude but the show wouldn't be the same without those comments.

I love him! he is great. So many times he says the exact same thing as I am thinking. In the try outs when people audition and they can not sing, Simon tells them how it is. If you can not sing, don't try out unless you are prepared to hear the truth.

I love & Hate Simon Cowell. I love him because he knows what he is doing, he speaks his mind, and contribute a very honest opinion. I hate him because he is not concern about the feelings of others. Simon is Brutally Frank.

I like Simon. I mean, I don't love him, but I don't hate him either. He occasionally goes too far, or he has in the past, but so far this season he seems a bit more gentle. I have always thought he was quite attractive too - looks-wise.

Both! LOL There are days I could just smack him one but really he is quite humorous and entertaining. But my 9 year old is a huge Paula fan.

I think that I am right in the middle when it comes to Simon Cowell. I think that he is a very intelligent man when it comes to the music industry, and that he has really made a great living off of doing just that. But, I also think that he can be quite mean, and doesn't think of the feelings of the people he is deeling with a lot of the time. Funny in some instances, and mean in others, I both like and dislike Mr. Cowell at the same time. It reminds me though, that I am excited for American Idol to get started here in a couple of days!

I LIKE simon cowell! Because he doesn't sugar coat anything. EVery once in a while he is a little off base, but most of the time he is right! No matter how rude he is about it. Of course, that's a big part of what makes the show so interesting!

well, i dont really hate simon. although i think that he's kinda rude to the contestants, i think he's just doing his job. you know, as judge you have to be a good critic. and he's just being honest about waht he thinks. and maybe with the use of his words like "horrible" or "ridiculous" may be his way to help people who doesnt really have talent or who doesnt believe that he/she cant sing to open their eyes into reality. simon is making them realize that they should not expect too much of themselves and go practice more to be a better singer that they want to be. but then, simon should've been more careful with his words cos sometimes it can really hurt. ;)

I also feel that some of the not so good singers(who seem to be singing all their lives and want to make a career out of it),if they really think that, they really need to be told the harsh truth. But Simon sometimes is unfair and goes over-board with with his comments. Some of them are too personal.

I don't love or hate Simon. I think he's arrogant and that's not something that I find to be a favorable trait in a person, but I can't tell how much of what we see in him is just an act and how much is real. Either way, he's just a man. The only thing that really bothers me is when he insults people for no good reason. He's really crushed some tender hearted people. There's a right way and a wrong way to tell someone sorry, you're not what we're looking for, he lacks tact and kindness.

That's a tough question for me! Haha...I guess I have a love/hate thing with him. Sometimes I think he's really smart and knows what he's talking about, but other times I think he can go too far with his comments. And sometimes he needs to just keep his mouth shut! As a person, though, he really doesn't seem all that nice...

There is a fine line between love and hate. I love his additude. I just cringe when he hurts someone's feelings, though.

I think Simon is a big part of the show too ... he's here to make people react too, this makes audiance, just like the 'bad' singers ... all those things attract people's curiosity.
If we are being honest with ourselves, in a way we like seeing him be rude to them, especially when they obiously can t sing... this is all part of the show and a way of getting people watch and talk about the show... and see it works ! ;-)

yeah there always has to be a "mean" one to be controversial ... it s agood publicity because people talk about that
When i was in france they had the same kind of show : singers, 3 judges and one of them of course being the heartless mean one obviously !
It just makes the show go ...

i think simon adds up to the flavors of the judges of american idol. i like his harsh comments and constructive criticism. after all there's no one else who would replace simon.

American Idol without Simon would become VERY boring very fast. I hear people talk about Simon being too mean and shouldnt be aired but I think that is an extreme view. People come on the show and say what they want to Simon, and thats very welcome on the show. Simon has his opinion is is entitled to it like you and me. I think Simon makes the show so good, Besides, He is the creater of the show anyways and it wouldnt be there to watch without him.
