Two gifts

When I was a boy, I had two plants that had given to me. One in Christmas andanother one in my birthday, months later. First it was a cactus, that still lives. Second plant I gave to a friend. Just before fighting with her, the plant began to die. After that I began to meet others which something similar had happened them. But never they gave a plant to me.

it's elaborate. It's only a descriptive situation. It's no a problem that needs to be answered. you may give the sense that you want, makes questions (example: "who gives to you the two plants?") or try to write something that happends to you.
