I know it's just a job to some people but come on! When someone says "I'm not interested" that means they are not interested! The more you keep talking the more we get upset. And what is up with always calling at dinnertime? I even got put on that "Do Not Call" registry so these people would stop calling, but no, they keep calling. I try not to be rude but if by the third time me telling you I'm not interested, and you keep talking, I will hang up on you. How do you all handle telemarketers?

I hang up on them a lot but my mom says I should say "Take me off your list". Apparantly if you say that they are supposed to (by law) remove you from their list and never call you. You are also supposed to get the name of the company so you can keep a record that you told them.
I think this is a pain, so usually I say No thanks and if they keep talking I just hang up. On my cell phone, I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. I figure if it is important, they will leave a message. If they don't leave a messagee, it must not have been important.

My husband usually answers to them. He immediately says "We are on the do not call list. I'm not interested." Then hangs up. He doesn't usually give them a chance to run on and on.

I worked as a telemarketer when I was in school only because they pay like $10 an hour to start, which is much higher that most places with limited education. They train you to do that. Actually, they monitor the calls and if you don't rebuttal, you get written up! There's always a manager walking around shouting something like, "get the yes! If they say no, turn it into a yes!" I was fired because I wouldn't do it. Once they made me come in on a Sunday! I remember how pissed people were...I would have been too.
