He's the situation. I have been trying to lose weight. I have been doing all the right things. I've been exercising every day, eating properly. I'm even a member at www.sparkpeople.com and I track my food intake and exercise. What I don't understand is.....Why am I gaining weight? It is so frustrating when I'm doing all the right things with no results. It is actually getting me really down at the moment. Sometimes I think why bother?

If you are exercising everyday you are probably gaining muscle mass which would explain why you are gaining weight. I know this is discouraging but as we build muscle we increase our metabolism, which in turn burns fat. Have you taken the time to do a figure analysis or measure your body fat? Many times the loss will come in inches and overall body fat. If you would like to discuss this with me please feel free to contact me. Whatever you do, don't give up. Your health depends on it.

Thank you for your advice. I take body measurements also when I weigh myself. These too have been fluctuating up and down. And no, I'm not about to give up. I won't get anywhere if I do that. I'll just keep plodding away at it. I'll have to eventually see some results.

Me too have this problem last year, but i learned a thing.
The secrets is to the carbohydrates!
If you eat pasta you don't eat bread at lunch and viceversa.
And eat only a second plate on the dinner.
But remember that carbohydrates is more important in a meal. So never forget some carbohydrates, but not in exceed...
Moreover don't eat many cakies....

You should remember at the start of any exercise routine you are going to gain weight. Its because you are gaining muscell mass. You may have lost half a kilo worth of fat but gained 2 kilos of muscell.
Also - low fat diets dont work as well as you would think. It has to do with the way the body motabalises fat and carbohydrates. reduce your carbohydrate consumption (not your fat) and you should get some results.
As I always say, do some reaserch. Everybody is different and I dont know what the best diest for you is, i can only recomend what has worked for me.

Well it all depends it could be that you have water problems, like you could be not getting rid of the amount of fluid in your body this would make you do this, so just check yourself for this first as it did do this to me before and I did not know until I checked it out with a doctor.

I recommend a good and safe medication for weight loss. A tablet of Xenical after the most fatty meal that you eat. Plus, you don't need to go on a severe diet. This will not help you lose weight but if you eat regularly but decrease the amount of food taken on each meal, this will help.

have you tried the south beach diet or maybe taking pilates classes? they both work. however, our body can reach the plateau stage wherein we will never lose weight once we are on it simply because we have lost all the weight that our body can afford.

i forget to tell you that also doing sport is fundamental, if you want to lose many kilos, but if you want only to lose a pair of kilos like me, also only the adjustment of the eat i think is enough...bye!
