I am 46 years old and I have three kids. My oldest is now 28 ,my second is 18 and my youngest( hold your breath) is 2. I went to the Doctor because something wasn't feeling right, I was thinking menopause right (or so I thought) I was pregnant.Has anyone else had this experience? I love my kids with all my heart.

I'm only 24, so personally, no, I can't say that I had a child after 40. But my mother did have my little sister when she was 36 and my dad was 38. This was 22 years ago, so it was probably a little more rare than having kids over 40 is now, though.
My mom says she had more patience for me and my sister than she did for the older four. And she definitely needed it because my sister was a hellion! LOL
She said the only bad thing about having us so late was taht she thought she would be too old to enjoy any grandkids we gave her. But she was wrong. My oldest sister, who is 36 is the only one of my siblings with kids and they are only 5 and 2. So my almost 1 year old is one that she would have almost as much time with, if we didn't live over 1000 miles away on an Air Force base. :)

I must say you have more patience than I have. My children are raised, and I've found that at 49, and with grandchildren, I just dont have to patience that I once had..don't get me wrong, I love my grandchildren, but I just couldn't take them all day every day the way i did my own. I guess it's just a fact of getting older. Good for you, I admire you.

No , its not the same with my grandkids. I have less patience with them but they are older, so maybe I expect more from them, plus they aren't being raised they way they should be. So they have some bad habits already, sorry to say. I wish I could take all the chilren in the world and keep them safe.

I'm not over 40, but I went to the doctor thinking I was having a stomach virus come to find out I was 3 months pregnant..lol..
As long as the mother is healthy, I don't see nothing wrong with it, however, if you 50 or 60 having kids, my opinion, it's a bit too old, Some people live long and some don't for whatever reason....Example, my good friend she is 31 now her father was 59 and her mother was 45 when she was concieved. Her father passed away at when she was 14...Yep a what a combo huh..Her father didn't see her become a young woman...I think that what scares me to even have another child now...

Yes 50 -60 is definetly alittle too old but if that makes them happy then I can't say it was wrong for them.A child is a blessing when ever you have it. I will be 51 when my little one graduates so...

I had my kids early 21 and 25, and now are both on there own and doing fine. I have had freinds who found themselves "surprised" and it worked out great! some things just happen and you deal with them as they come. For me it would be a lot of adjustment on my part but I would come around.

Adjusting was one part and I has to buy everything all over again, wow was I surprised at all the new things they had for kids and the prices lol. For you now your kids are grown and you can go and do what you want so that is a plus for you enjoy it.

I only knew of one and that's my mother-in-law who gave birth to her youngest at 44. The same age that you did. She's now 80 years old, and she lives right there in Orlando, Florida.
She loves kids like you do, laughs often, and hates it when she's not doing anything in the house.

Fregnant after 40 years is no matter at all as long as the doctor allow you and the child was health. I have a friend, she was fregnant at 43 years after she got 5 children. Everyone was worries about her but not for her, she was health and can born a very handsome baby with 3,8kg. It's wonderful mam... Until now, she was health and very energic, nobody can do that

Yes I saw that as well I think that is pushing the issue, but if it was her first and only then I am sure she was the happiest woman in the world

Yes I have a beautiful daughter that I am very proud of. I worked everyday while pg. and was very healthy and I actualy gained less weight and lost the weight faster than when I was younger.I hope that alievates some of your fears. I have to say this also. I have so much more patienece with her than I did with my others. I really feel that I was ready for her at that age.I did have to hace a "C" section done. But that was fine too.
