I have an 85% loss of hearing in both ears. I also have tenetis. I can hear on my phone some what, but I can't here it ring. I don't know when someone is @ the door. I can't hear if people are talking to me unless they are looking at me. ( some lip reading) I can't here the fire alarm or the alarm clock. Today I was at work and a lady came in with a small service dog for here hearing just like mine. I don't make alot of money she said she didn't pay much from what info I got. I live in the LasVegas area and don't know where to start so your it.
Thanks
Mike

I would contact the Seeing Eye Dogs program, if its not the same program they would be able to direct you to the right one. But it may be they also train hearing dogs at the same place and time. I also read about a lady who had a monkey trained to do the same things-bring the phone, alert when the doorbell rings etc. which was interesting but im sure not what you are looking for.

i am so sorry for you. you must get checked up by a doctor and ensure that there is no big problem. and yes do consult an ear specialist. i advice you to use an ear machine. it might be helpful. that's all i can say.
well take care and avoid any damage to you ear

Mike - I, too, have a hearing impairment. It doesn't sound as though mine is as significant as yours though. I don't have a specially trained dog but I do have two dogs that are tremendously helpful in letting me know when things are going on in the house. I kind of trained them each as puppies to come to me when the doorbell rings, bark when a timer goes off in the kitchen or the alarm system goes off. To my surprise, my one dog has started waking me up when the alarm clock goes off by climbing onto the bed and pawing at me. They are incredibly good at learning those things that you and I both find helpful without the intensive training of, say, a seeing eye dog. Best of luck to you!
