If Bin Laden is caught, do you think terrorism and war would be over?

I asked this question at other sites and I thought I would also ask you guys. some countries are plagued with terrorism. The US is out for catching Bin Laden. But I wonder if that would stop the issue. aside from other calamities so many innocent people have also died because of these two issues. I wonder how our world would be in the next decade.

I don't think it will end. There were and are plenty other terrorist groups and plenty of support from people that might not necessarily be strapping up with dynamite vests, but they support it nonetheless. I think things have to change big time in the Middle East for terrorism to stop, and its gonna take cooperation of the whole world, and mainly the Middle East to fix the problem.

In my opinion, catching Bin Laden would not stop terrorism. Terrorism is not caused by only 1 person, it caused by a group of people that can't be eliminated at once. I do hope that this terrorism can be stopped before it gets very ugly.

I do hope for peace too. If only this world is not marred by corruption and stuff like that.

I think even if he is caught, that there still would be terrorism and even possibly more of it. Just because the leader has been captured or killed, does not mean terrorism will end. There are many sick and evil people out there willing to continue to kill innocent people no matter what. I wish that there was a way to end terrorism but do not see that happening.

i dont think this will ever stop, even if they caught him there would dtill be people who is about what he is about and will try to serve justice by attacking whoever so forth and so on and it will neve stop, beacuse their will always be somebody who will have hatred in their heart weather it a person from a faren country or if its a person from america!!!! it really dosent matter!!hatred in somones heart is hatred in their heart!!!

That's a valid point. Hatred is fatal if it is not overcome. But how can we plant love into these people who have so much hatred in their hearts?

who said that? Terrorism will not stop with the capture of Bin Laden. There are many more such militant organizations. Bin Laden came into prominence only after September 11. And talking of killings? Anyone has seen the beheading of Nick Berg by the Taliban? See it and you will realize what i write.

i will say we have to take one more birth to pierce the roots of terrorism but it can be controlled to a extent-if not bin laden then other laden's will appaer so we have continous controversy with this matter!!

Glad you said 'if'! No, even if Bin Laden was caught it wouldn't be the end of terrorism. Saddam was caught and executed but that hasn't put an end to terrorism. As long as there is religion, greed and oil then there will be war and terrorism. I don't think peace is in man's vocabularly. I wonder how long our world will actually last the way's its going and I can't see us reaching the next millenium.

That was nicely said, Heartoffaith: "Terrorism is a way of life for some countries." And no nation/country, historically, has mastered the act like the USA and Britain!

WEll, that was well put. Hopefully, they will reap what they sow, eventually.

Terrorism will go on as long as there are unhappy people in the world.If peace broke out in the middle east, war would break out somewhere else in the world. It may not get the attention the middle east does, but there would be war.

I don't think that would stop terrorism. It would help but he's not the only person causing it. Another person would probably take over and try to be more of a terrorist then Bin Laden.

As much as some officials in Washington DC may want the Americans to believe - Osama Bin Laden is not the root cause of terrorism. There are so many terrorist groups - all over the world and each has its own issues. Each believes their cause is the most important and that the only way to solve problems is through violence. M.S. Ghandi was once asked if he believed that India should join the Allied Forces in fighting Hitler. He said that the world would always have evil - always. He said that eventually good would triumph over evil - but a new evil source would come in its place. I think he was right on target on this one.

That was absolutely right, for when the devil sees every little opportunity he is very watchful. Good thing, the Lord God is not going to forsake us forever. Eventually, good will triumph over evil. I strongly believe so.

Bin laden is not only the threat as a terrorist but there are other groups as well so just by catching problem will not solve.

Not at *all*. You catch Bin Laden, another ten will pop out of the woodwork somewhere 'to carry ahead his work' so to speak. Because catching Bin Laden is like treating the symptom instead of curing the problem.
@Jemina (5770)
27 Jan 07
Exactly. I like your answer. We should treat the cause, not the effect.

Ofcourse not the terrorism will not be stop,Ben laden is just a result for other influences,and when you wanna stop the terrorism you must find its roots and pick it out.and i think the main root fro the terrorism is the human nature and you can't get rid of the human but we can do certain things that can decrease the terrorism like judging fairly on the complicated situations and standing with the wronged and against the wrongful

You're absolutely right. We are simply just trying to cure the disease instead of targeting the main cause. Well, I think there is a need for a global action which is smiply next to impossible. Only a miracle can do it.

GOOD point is raised , that if LADIN is caught ! wheather is is end of terrors or not first of all , i shall add that LADIN is not osama , only freedom fighter if suppose it is terror , than terror will not end up because , we are unable to recognized the real terrors , who have end up the countries ,killed innocent million of people in the name of terror do u believe in my statement?
@Jemina (5770)
27 Jan 07
Yea, that's true, I agree with you there. I'm glad to gather different opinions but somehow related in this topic. I totally agree that we should treat the real cause. But we can only wish. What can we do as mere citizens. I'm not only pointing at Bin Laden here but because of the world's quest for peace they want terrorism to end and so governments are vent on chasing these people.
