Employees don't leave their job or Company, they leave their Boss. 700 people were offered a survey. this is what they said about their Bosses. 39% said their supervisors failed to keep promises. 37% said supervisor failed to give them credit where credit was due. 31% said supervisor gave them silent treatment. 27% said supervisor made negative comment to other employee or Managers, 24% said supervior invade their privacy, 23% said supervisors blamed others to cover up mistakes. So what do you think about your Boss? Do you work for a good company? do you like your Job? let's hear it!

Try having you own mother as your boss you feel the disappointment on both ends when they don't keep promises.

I am a manager, and I guess I work at a small company, but I try my hardest to keep my word. I am still young, and many of my employees are only a year or two younger than me. It is sometimes intimidating to have that much responsibility over people who are practically the same age, but I do what I can. I know what it is like to have managers who don't listen, and that you just cannot count on. If I tell my employees I will do something, I make sure to make a note so that I do not forget. I don't care how small of a favor it is, I will make sure it gets done. If I happen not to work the next day and it is something that I can't take care of that night, I will call and check with the manager on duty that day and ask them to take care of it, and if they can't I will make a special trip in just to make sure that it gets done. I also try to tell my employees that I appreciate when they do stuff, just because it makes them feel good. Also, I never make them do anything that I wouldn't do, because that just isn't fair.

You are so right to be sure and show appreciation. It's the main thing that gets overlooked, I think. If people just felt appreciated, they could deal with a lot of other imperfections in the work place.

Interesting numbers. My bosses are ok for me and I don't have any problem. My company is ok and I like my Job. However, I'm going to start a new job in a month's time or so which for a position better than what I have now.

The Law Firm i work for is not the best company and their are definately some little nitpicky things that i don't like, but my boss is great. She has let me borrow money when i was in a financial situation and we don't get paid maternity leave (which is another thing i dislike)so when i was out after having my daughter she gave me some of her vacation days so that i could get paid for an extra week. I definately appreciate the things she has done for me.

True. But my question is do bosses ever keep their word ? My work place is a probably a practical implementation of what the survey says.

In general, I have not liked my bosses or the companies. The bigger the company, the worse the situation is. So, I left it all and became self employed. www.mgcreativearts.com is my art work on my website. I have a really nice boss now. Look how she lets me work on MyLot:)

My old boss was famous for promising these teeny little raises "if" we did this or that...everyone wanted one, of course because we were severely underpaid and overworked. We stopped believing her after a few years. I left finally, and have been happier since.

Boy do I agree with that survey. I think I've worked for most of them bosses. I worked for the same company for 14 years. Had four driffent boss and they all had a driffent way of working. The nices one was really liked by all the EE. If she got mad about something she didn't yell at you or put you down like the rest she would just explain what you did wrong and show you the right way to do it .That's the only way people really learn to do there jobs better.

Heh, doesn't surprise me. I've worked for some decent bosses, and some downright ridiculous bosses. Many of those bosses seem to get their kicks by manipulating and controlling their employees, and the more weakness and submissiveness you show, the further they go with it. Right now, I do a driving job, so I don't have a boss over my shoulder all the time. It's a nice change.

I bet you love that! I don't like people looking over my shoulders when I'm working. I would rather be self-employed, myself.

I read this and it hit such a nerve with me. The last three jobs I've left, I absolutely left the boss much more so than the job. I felt like this survey validated me. It also made me think of all my years as a supervisor and the employees who left for various reasons. It has me hoping against hope that no one ever quit "me." Right now I work for a non-profit agency in which I work for a board of directors and primarily answer to and have limited daily interaction with the president. He is very humane (so far) and makes me feel very valued for my contributions. At this point, I can't imagine ever leaving this job. The key for me is the "limited interaction." I have practically total autonomy about my activities thoughout the day, and his input is more on long-term plans. This I can live with.

I would have to agree that most of the time people leave there job due to management and not necessarily the company. If you have a boss that is cruel, slefish and not very motivating, etc.. it causes many people to leave that is why many large companies have such high turn over rates.

Hi Marcie, At the present time I am not working outside the home. But when I was, I left a job I really liked because of the owner/boss. He was disrespectful, rude, rotten, mean, didn't always keep his word, he liked to yell and scream at people. In other words he was an A$$.

Amazing information. These days its really hard to find great bosses who keep their promises. Personally, I enjoy the work what i am doing now. I work for a gaming company. I enjoy my work to the most. After changing a lot of jobs finally I found job satisfaction. And its really tough to carry yourself well all along. I maintain a lot of professionalism. I had a wonderful boss who kept his promises. He quit now. The present one is O.k.
